The Cats Meow
Light rain here in the valley. Do not expect any changeover. xfkirsten
Just went out for the first time since the snow hit - drove out to have dinner with my parents. I was pretty amazed at how we have virtually nothing on the ground here in lower-elevataion Redmond, but a quick drive up to the Bel-Red area, and they've still got solid coverage everywhere but the roads. Perturbed Member
Mark Nelsen posted an update on the east wind and snow chances Sunday AM. He isn't too impressed. "We’ve got about 36 hours of gusty east wind ahead; the usual spots exposed to that cold Gorge wind (east metro and West Hills) will feel the brunt of the gusts. Expect those gusts up to 40 mph at times tomorrow afternoon through early Sunday morning. The wind dies down after that time." "Late Saturday night and Sunday that weather system will send a band of showers north all the way up into SW Washington. As it passes by we should be cold enough for a rain/snow mix Sunday morning and midday. That’s IF the precipitation actually shows up. Some models are just giving us sprinkles/flurries. We’ll be watching this closely the next 24 hours; but typically these setups have not produced “real” sticking snow in the lowlands, and we won’t be all that cold Sunday morning."

I was a very young lad in '90, and that's when my weather obsession started. Best guess on Tacoma's general accumulations for that period (since we don't have any real records). 1990-91: 4" 1992-3: 4" 1993-4: 1" 1994-95: 5" 1995-96: 6" 1996-97: 12" 1997-98: 3" 1998-99: 2" 2000-01: 3" 2001-02: 6" 2003-04: 10" 2005-06: 5" Grand total: 61" (so slightly more than I estimated above) Not a single winter anywhere near as snowy as 2008-09 or 2018-19. 3 A forum for the end of the world.
