January Weather In the PNW

Alright guys this is important....I have no idea what will happen. But I hang around here mostly to feel superior that my climate is colder, and I’m banned from most eastern forums.

First, I’m not banned from anywhere, c*nt. Secondly, Justin initiated that exchange last night, not me, so go squeal to someone else about it. K?

I think you deserve some s**t after you little meltdown last night. ;)

Meltdown? I wasn’t even offended.

Looks like it has started to stick a bit.

Still just (sometimes chunky) rain just down the road in Lynden.

Maybe you can muster some accumulation once it gets dark. So close up there in Lynden.

You seem like a very stable person and can really handle social situations well.

I’m a stable genius.

12z ECMWF EPS 15 day for Portland-Troutdale looks nice. Shows an average of 4 inches of snow through day 15. One ensemble member brings almost a foot.

Can we lock that in yet?

I'll vote for you when you run!

I’d transfer Trump’s border wall funds to NASA to build a giant mirror in space, centered over NW North America. It’d stop global warming and return Seattle winters to their former glory. Every winter will be an 1880 repeat!

Finally back home and resting after spending the last 8 days in the hospital with pneumonia. A bit touch and go for a few days but thankfully doing much better but still pretty d**n weak.

Powerful antibiotics and top notch "expensive" healthcare work wonders

On a meteorological note, it appears we may perhaps be looking at some cool/colder air in the mid range? Sure hope so, I need that prediction of mine from last month to come true.

I did already have more than the '14-'15 season but seems like mid-winter wants to take a break. My first snow was as early as October if anyone was curious.

We had 1" in October as well. NWS Reno tweeted out a graphic today that South Lake Tahoe is tied with Mobile Alabama for snowfall on the season at 1". I would include it here but I can't find anywhere to attach images?

Sounds like a great idea!  :)

Lol, or this might work.... dig some tunnels through the Cascades down low enough and put giant fans in them to direct colder air from eastern Washington westward.

If I could talk my wife into it we would be moving to Sumas. They do so well with such marginal situations up around the border. Too far north for her, though.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Wow. That's no good at all. Hopefully you're feeling better. Some late January snowfall could be helpful for your recovery.

I guess if you can't move north then you need to go up in elevation.

I like it up there near the border. Quieter than around here and less traffic.

Rest up so you can fully enjoy the February mega blast of the decade...that’s when we get that Russian air over this way!

This is important...eventually, that gargantuan mass of Arctic air (and the high pressures/anticyclone associated with it) will spill into the NW-Pacific/East Asia. If you think the modeling is struggling now, you ain’t seen nothing yet.

Indo-Pac MJO + expanded WPAC warm pool + humongo Arctic air dump into East Asia/NW-Pac..I already feel queasy..

Right about March/April time frame... Fricken Magical timing. Our winters suck a** and now so will our spring. JOY!

There goes my steelhead fishing for some days. Need 12.8'-14.5' to run my sled and best fishing conditions.

I had prior plans on the Wilson this weekend. Ain't happening though. I won't fish it above 6.5. 5.0-5.5 has always been prime for me. Especially when its on the drop.

We are actually going to put a low ball offer on a place this weekend just east of Big Lake in Skagit Co and see what happens. it’s around 500ft I believe and just looking at the location I think it has a good chance at being a snowy area but I don’t know the micro climate in that area. It’s 22 acres and the majority is forest. I believe the hill to the east goes up possibly to 1,000ft. It had snow on it the last time we were out there, I could just take a quad up to the snow! A view from the living room.
