Looking at the past there are only a handful examples of weather verifying in the mid Feb through early March period as cold as what the 18z GFS is showing, but it can happen.

Given the ease with which we have seen mid to late February cold waves recently I think we will see something.  Hopefully something really top drawer.

As for grades I could only give this winter a C+ here if we don't get anything else.  If we get another good round of cold and another 3 or 4 inches of snow that would easily go to a solid B.

Our snowiest months are February and March. Way too early to grade this winter. 2017-18 had almost no snow until mid-February and ended up decent.

It's really a nasty day here in Sandy. Hard rain, wind and in mid 40s. The thing that is so strange the last few years has been the long periods of dry, sunny weather followed by long periods of heavy rains and snow. We used have cloudy drizzly days rather than downpours. Part of that is moving to Sandy. We get about 65 inches of rain here.

All of the rain has been light here this winter.  A lot of grey days, but pretty dry overall.

If it doesn't show 24" for the Puyallup valley I don't even bother to consider it.

When it shows 24" sometimes we end up with 4-5".

My parents are on vacation right now in the Philippines where the weather is exactly like this, probably with more oppressive tropical heat. I joked with my dad that when they return mid-February, they're returning to cold and snow. He said "hell no, that's not happening".

He's hyped up and jinxed snow events before, but since the opposite is at play, we getting snow after the 15th.

81 here now... dewpoint of 65.   Feels absolutely perfect.

Late December 1964 and early January 1965 seems like a fun period of weather (after the big arctic blast/snowstorm and flooding rains). Astoria saw 25.5" of snow from 12/27/1964 to 1/6/1965, with pretty marginal temps

Yeah the weather is definitely nice there even year round never gets too hot or cold. That area you are staying in is really nice I had so much fun there last summer.

Had a nice hike today on the Eagle Creek trail. First time for me since it reopened following the 2017 fire. Got rained on most of the way but I actually love doing waterfall hikes on gloomy, misty days like this.
