August 2018 Weather in the Pacific Northwest

I don't think there's much in the way of cloudiness around Rathtrevor Beach, I believe this is all smoke entering the Strait of Georgia:

Yeah, that's pretty smoky. Looking at the satellite over the Strait of Georgia it is all smoke.

Looks like the worst smoke in the country might be right over Tim.

Right over me too.

Looks like it gets focused over the typical CZ area. I know if it gets that bad, I'm going to lying low inside in the AC.

That initial high level smoke plume seems to have dissipated here. The sky has actually turned more blue in the last hour.

Hopefully can get one from them soon. Mad respect for their coach Barrett Peery he is a great motivator and his passion for the game feeds right into his players. Was fortunate enough to sit behind their bench during their game vs Montana State.

I like their new head coach Peery and his fast up-tempo style that he brings. Makes the college game much better to watch and puts a better product out there on the court. I believe the future is bright with him. It's been about a decade since we've been dancing but I think we can get there again soon. It's going to be fun watching them play this year at the new Viking Pavilion. Much better than the old Peter Stott Center when I use to go to school there.

The D11-15 12z EPS builds a remarkable amount of cold up across NE-Canada. Picking up right where we left off last year with the vortex.

This is one of the earliest I've seen this pattern show up. If this was Winter we'd be talking about a strong signal for an Arctic Blast with the ridge about to amplify up into Alaska. There's going to be no shortage of blocking this Winter, just going to be a matter of where it sets up shop.

I am now calling for a winter storm in or near early November that could bring some low elevation snow to certain areas that may be close to us.

Yikes, I never heard of a smokestorm before until now.

Me neither.

Looks like the smoke canopy is making it's way into North central and NW WA now. Little heavier looking this time.

It is quite early. Going to be a repeat of late June/early July w/ the US death ridge and NE-Canadian vortex building the cold pool up there.

There could be a cold spell in October with some freeze warnings. Some Halloween snow would be cool.

The color satellite shows it best. Some very nasty stuff coming our way, though surface air quality is still pretty good here at the moment.

Incredible on the amount of smoke over southern BC.

Sunset tonight wasn't overly orange or red, so not much smoke yet...

You reap what you sow. Months of ignoring the savage drought in BC while talking up the continuing warm dry forecasts are biting back in a big way now.

Wait... he controls the weather with his preferences???

Big news!

Just think if he had cheered for BC rain all summer... problem solved.

Can you post a graphic or the map?  Any chance the winds are favorable for Eastern Washington/Chelan to clear out a bit Monday/Tuesday?

Here is the link...

https://rapidrefresh.noaa.gov/hrrr/HRRRsmoke/

Doubt it clears up much over there until maybe later in the week when troughing develops... but that could actually make it worse around Chelan.

Here is 5 p.m. tomorrow...

I'm seeing Chelan was reporting "hazardous" as of 6pm.

Earlier in the day it was "Unhealthy".

Does not bode well for jet skiing and boating.  I call the resort and they said, "oh, it's not that bad".  Ha ha ha!

I was there the 5th-8th with unhealthy levels of smoke and it was tolerable, but being out in it camping I did get a sore throat and itchy eyes at times. I'm sure now it is pretty irritating and uncomfortable being outside for any long period of time. They just don't want to loose the business.

Grateful the smoke has stayed at bay here in PDX and the Willamette Valley. Pleasant night as far as I can see tonight. Really glad I am getting this done now so I can enjoy the winter. Guarantee if I had been admitted in Dec-Feb then that's when the snow would have happened.

Still going to have to have a cyborg implant put in in mid Nov tho so watch out for that time-frame because it will likely be cold then XD.

Seahawks win the division at 7-9! Rams big name ego’s self destruct their season, Sherman will call Garoppolo a pansy which will in turn hurt his feeling and he will play like crap, and every singe member of the Cardinals will end up getting hurt. Go Hawks!

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!
