Maybe I’m weird but I’ve always liked the early sunsets. The long evenings can be cozy. On the flip side I’ve always enjoyed the super late sunsets on the opposite side of the year too. I enjoy dynamism when it comes to daylight length throughout the year. To me it would be strange living at a lower latitude where daylight length and sun angle are more uniform year round. I realize this is just personal preference though.
I went to bed too soon, around 10pm. But it was visible here around midnight. My son's art teacher posted photos and other people shared in our town's group page.
Set up a nest cam pointed to the east and overhead and turned night vision off. It missed the first and probably best show around 11. But this seemed like the next best time for naked eye viewing according to this camera.
Went out of the city to get away from the light pollution. Great show last night. Stayed up until a little past midnight watching it from a pier in a nearby lake. I did not need to use my flashlight when walking back to camp even though the moon had set.
Will post photos when I get back to the city and a better network connection.
Apparently it reached G5 levels.
