• Now at 14.1" and counting for the month
• Snowiest February since records started being kept at the airport
• Snowiest month at KSEA in 33 years (yes, snowier than December 2008).

Hmm maybe not as good as I thought. Looked around for stations downwind aloft of PDX at 1k' and found this one. Want to see this at 31 or lower for PDX to have easy time getting snow at the valley bottom.

However this one is a good OBS for PDX. 2k' at coast range, up to 32, winds switched from SW TO WSW and went down to 31.

I’m not sure how you guys will do with the next storm. I’d guess 3-6” down there. I think VancouverIslandsouth might know better for your area

 

Assuming we keep modest outflow going, tomorrow's event should be pretty good. Typically these come as overrunning events producing around 4-6" before switching over to rain. Probably will happen again with this one, perhaps with a delayed changeover if at all; in that case we'd be looking at 6"+.

Be interesting to see the pattern going forward. I remember back in 2008 it ended abruptly as well.

Seems like many are changing back to snow. Hearing about the thunder is cool too. At least this seems like a pretty dynamic system.

 

37 here with some flakes mixing in and strong south wind.

That was nuts. I was bummed to be staying Portland this week because of the snow Seattle is likely to get, but that 5 minute period really took the sting off. Like KI2, that was the heaviest snow I have ever seen. With thunder and lightning and crazy winds. A few potted plants in the backyard tipped over as that cell went through.

Heavy sleet is now falling here at 22 degrees, with almost 3 inches total of sleet/snow on the ground. I've never seen sleet fall at such cold temperatures before!

I'm forgetting just how special and historic this month has been. Trying not to get too disappointed about the models tonight. It's just far too easy to get used to cold and snow.
