Sciascia
Falling snow being able to basically mute the ambient sounds of traffic, people walking, etc. is just the coolest thing sometimes. I was walking to my bus stop with my head down, and if I didn’t pick my head up from time to time, I could’ve fooled myself into thinking the street was empty. 3 Quote ...The Artist Formerly Known as RJSnowLover... SE Wisconsin
Not overly impressed with the radar images and the chances for more than an inch or two here in SE WI. Most of the deep moisture seems to want to stay south of us. May end up being a good one for folks in the Chicago area though.
Hawkeye
I'm at 4.4" at 5pm. hlcater
Sleet is now mixing in. Snow total for round 1 is 4.7". Might add on a few more tenths, but I think the significant accumulation is over with until the backside band tomorrow, if it occurs. This storm has just about performed in line with my expectations so far. 1 Quote 2021-22 Snowfall: (Hiawatha) TOTAL: 10.2" (12/28: 3.0") (12/29: 0.8") (1/1: 6.4")

hlcater
Also worth noting that the HRRR is again overdoing the amount of mixed precipitation that would occur on the immediate backside of this low(just like it was doing up in MN yesterday, but corrected). Stormy
It turned into a frz r./ sleet mix just as it's winding down a bit. So I quickly went and measured behind the evergreen windbreak and saw I have about the same as you guys in CR. Right around 3.8" or 3.9". The spot I measured earlier must've had some blown away.

james1976
Back to light snow here. Definitely a mixed bag. Some decent rates at times. Wind is also letting up. Schnack said it would lighten up but once the L moves to the east early morning it will get cranking to 50mph gusts.
Niko
For part-1 he seems to be is. We should get both parts tho by the looks of things. Are you sure no part2? NOAA:All in all, most of SE MI can expect up to a half inch of accumulationduring the day Sunday but there is potential for some in the I94 toM59 corridor to exceed 1 inch if the initial eastern moisture surgeis stronger. 1 Quote Snowfall for Winter 2023 -24 for Metro Detroit Area Oct 2023: 0.2" AN Nov 2023: 2.2" AN Dec 2023: 0.5" BN Insane! St Paul Storm
Unless I am missing something, SPS call of 4.5 might be right around here.Depends on if we miss the dry slot and mixing. It’s gonna be close. All models have the slot missing us to the south. If the slot gets here, we won’t hit forecasted amounts. You’re in a better spot north of the metro. Tom
I’m cruising in the city and the snowfall is majestic. You can see it falling in waves when looking at the street lamps. The wind is just enough to blow the snow around. Looking at radar trends, I think N IL may be in line for some of the higher end totals. Nice plume of deeper moisture heading our way.
Minny_Weather
Not a fan of radar trends here. Out in Indiana the ZR/snow line looks to be North of where models had it this morning. It's going to start as snow but I'm worried about an early changeover to rain in the morning. And the overnight snow is pointless if rain is just gonna melt it all tomorrow.
