Even at 2 days out, the ridge on the 00z GFS is noticeably west and weaker compared to the Euro and GEM. I wonder if that's the main culprit for the less favorable evolution of the GFS tonight.

I notice the GFS has the weakest anomaly with the offshore ridge at that point of the three models.

doing better than the GFS here for sure that's a relief.

Euro seems to be splitting the difference between GEM and GFS, although I think it's tending towards GFS now. The ridge structure of Euro and GFS at Days 6-7 are closer than GEM. Interesting as the Euro and GEM were in lock step to Day 5.

I think Euro will still get there with the Arctic air by day 8.

Heights are lower on Euro compared to GFS at day 7. My guess is Euro will compromise between GFS and GEM, at least at the 500mb level. I have no idea what that will translate to at the surface days 8-10. Those surface level details change so much from run to run, still too far out to know what systems will manage to bring snow to the lowlands.
