I still remember Jan 2017 like it was yesterday. PDX NWS was predicting 1-8" that afternoon. I ended up with 18".

More like 150 miles so it snows from Portland to Seattle.

Wow, where were you to get that much? I had about 12-13" in Bethany which was still a crazy amount

Is that the TGN or the TSF east of Patrick, Nevada? 

I know that area very well and I believe it's just off the Clark exit headed east (I-80), yes?

Rain/Snow mix right now 35 degrees. I REALLY really don't want an ice storm. 33 degree rain is preferable to that. Of course an inch or two of snow would make me quite happy.

yep. my mom got bored in retirement and took a job out there. Most snow anyone out there has seen in a long time. Her house in Fernely is at 12" today. Fernley averages like 7" a year

I think models will converge on that solution. But then precip makes it further north than advertised.

00z GFS wants to give PDX another Dec 2008. Still amazed most models want to keep temps in the teens all day Saturday with snow.

Mark Nelson mentioned wind gusts 70-90 mph at the west end of the Gorge. I don't think I have ever seen that before. That's dangerous. The wind chills are going to be extreme, maybe worse than 1989 when they were well below zero. That's when things stop being so exciting.

Not sure if it's been discussed much but some models have really been hinting at another cold shot the middle of next week.  The ICON has been all over it, and tonight's GEM gets there as well.  The 12z Graph Cast tried to get there, but just missed.  Then you have last nights day 9 ECMWF, tonight's GFS showing something late in the run, and a major MJO wave in play.  The chance is there for a another round later in the month.

Personally, I wouldn't advise anyone go east of 205, (especially) up to Crown Point with this outflow. Dangerous bitter cold. Hypothermia a very real threat with those temps/wind speeds.

Or too exciting.  No doubt that wind will be extremely cold.

I'll definitely be keeping an eye out on my works weather station to compare to TTD's readings if those winds do happen.

Wind chill forecast in the BC Chilcotin is -67F tomorrow night.  That would freeze your bits off in a minute or so.

If tonight's ECMWF can come in slightly north of the 18z Seattle could still have a shot at some snow with the weekend event.

December 1996 is another event that comes to mind that went way north at the last minute.  Talking about the initial snow and cold air invasion on that.
