Yes... and tell her she is going to make me drive up there if she insists on shoveling!   Her neighbors are so nice and they will eventually get it done but she wants to do it quickly so she doesn't bother them.

West Yellowstone was -48 lastnight! Still a ways off there record of -66 from 1933.

I agree, that is my gut. There will be some here but it's just impossible to predict right now.  Lows just don't track south of us to often without any forcing.

Atleast the ice would give us some more wintery precip besides the trace of snow we got Thursday. Pretty solid blast though. This did deliver a 27/17 day and a 24/14 day…ice on the beaches and a little snow. Not to mention a low of 13 this morning. I’d take this over the 1” of slush and the 36/28 day we had in January 2020.

Soooo this!!! My 8 years working at the senior community which included big events as 11/06, 1/07, 12/08, 11/10, 2/11 (or 2/10 I can never get that Feb event year correct) and 1/12…And GOOD LORD these seniors do not change their routines one bit no matter what, and everything has to be done RIGHT NOW even though they have nowhere to be. 
The resident of this car asked us to dig it out (12/08) so they could go shopping at QFC since they go to QFC that day of the week every week. 
Even though we have a small grocery store on site along with a restaurant.

When we do a full remodel in the house hopefully sometime within the next 10yrs I do want to add a wood burning stove. Would probably still have a propane one as well like we have now but have it in the bedroom and have the wood burner in the living room. I absolutely miss having the wood burner. The memory of the house I grew up in that my parents built is still deep inside, having a fire going Christmas morning 1990 and looking out at our snow covered 5 wooded acres and being about 75 lovely degrees inside the house…Perfection! 

The house just sold last year and I got these pics off of Redfin…Absolute time capsule as it was exactly the same inside minus minor kitchen updates since 1991 when my parents sold it during their divorce. Anyway, Nothing like wood burning heat.

This wood stove cranks out 90k btu running wide open. I can have the house 80 degrees if I like even when it's 15 outside.

Speaking of heating efficiency or lack thereof, we have a radiant heat system that has to be original with the house (1948).  It’s embedded in the concrete floor of the main level of the home. The basement ceiling is exposed concrete and the main floor is covered with hardwood over a layer of plywood. It’s 80 degrees in the basement with the thermostat set to 70 on the main floor. Efficient!  We got some bids on ductless systems a couple years ago but the house is large and kind of chopped up so it was crazy expensive. 
 

By the way, the thermometer in the photo I bought with my paper route money when I was like 12. Still going strong 50 years later.

Found the 12/25/90 picture! I was the first one up, built a fire and watched the snow fall as daybreak happened. And a picture of our dog posing in front of the wood stove lol

I wish we knew what happened around here in the last 500 years. 1880 could be small compared to what had happened.  If you lined everything up perfectly with a arctic trough and a AR event you could smash the area with feet and feet of snow

Country wood stoves were built right here in the Puget Sound area. I am friends with the son of the guy who started the company!

I had a bad nightmare last night while asleep. While all of us had been enjoying our arctic cold and snow we were struck with the massive 9.0 cascadia earthquake. The sheer terror I felt and destruction of the quake and tsunami in this cold was pure hell. I woke up before too long and sighed a breath of relief that it was just a dream... I hope that quake never hits but I know it’s pretty much inevitable at some point.

Yeah if another January 1950 were to happen I would have to wonder how it would be handled in this region. A few days of cold and snow is one thing, weeks on end of it is a whole different animal. "Shut everything down until it melts" ain't gonna work.

Agree!  My own yard testifies this has been a special event. Historic ice build up on Whiskey Barrel Falls and it continues to grow!   Been fun to be in the ice box but of course would have preferred some snow as well.
