Yeah. Really. I remember when it was showing a western trough, 2 weeks out, he said “it was too early to know. Blah blah” — now GFS is showing eastern cold, “it’s impressive” even though this model is waffling quite a bit.  lol 😂

Just lost power at home...

Completely calm outside and just a moderate shower. I can see the neighborhood across the street has power still.

Check for multiple hairdryers and curling irons on.  I feel that I need turn the geni on every morning when the girls get ready for school and teaching.  Never fails.  😂  When my kids were young (4 daughters), I flipped more breakers than I could count.  Now many years later, it seems nothing has changed.  It's like when Clark Griswold flips the switch for his Christmas lights and all the emergency power from the nuclear reactors kick in.

If I were a betting man...

About 90% of the model runs are showing the cold going east... So it’s not like he’s just pulling hope out of his a**. We are. 🤪🙃🚨

The EPS and the GEM looked good last night. Too early to give the slide east winter cancel.

The ECMWF/EPS favors the West, and that’s the best performing model. So..

Doesn't really exist but some spots will give you a little better chance in our mostly marginal events.  Top of the West Hills, hills above Scappoose(that's a little further out), east county like Corbett, but there's not really a "snow zone" here unless you get out past Sandy towards Mt Hood on 26 above maybe 1,500ft.  You might eke out an inch or two in the higher elevations locally and certainly east county but only when those east wind events set up.  It's not Winthrop where you know you're gonna get feet every winter.

Had a 1/2" snow fall around 330-4am, just a small enough amount that some roads were slick.

Folks with 4WD had a hard time stopping on demand.

Sandy

Went skiing once during the Feb 2018 event. On the drive there and back there was a foot of snow on the ground in Sandy, 3-4 inches in the south-central metro, and a dusting to an inch back home.

Was quite cold up on the mountain too. About 10°F at Meadows (this was at night).

How did you get to this link on WRCC?    I can only find data for the western states.   I love seeing data go back to 1869... fascinating!

Just looked through the NYC stats... one thing that stood out is how much wetter is has been over the last 20 years compared to the first hundred years of this station.    Most years have been wetter than normal since 2000.   Also... there was about 8 different months with more than 10 inches of rain in the first hundred years and already 8 months with more than 10 inches of rain since 2000.     Its also much warmer than it used to be... and the warming has been pretty steady over the last 150 years.    Some of that is likely regional UHI.   I assume NYC and the surrounding area was much more rural and wooded back in the 1800s.

Here is the national view

https://wrcc.dri.edu/summary/sodusa.html

No one has updated their daily records since 2016 (thanks Trump!) but you can still find the up-to-date data in the tables.

Looks like someone took out a street sign right at the top of my street. At least 5 PUD vehicles were at the scene, working on stuff.
