There are some crazy temperature variations up here in Skagit/Whatcom counties currently. Like you have the normal in/out of outflow up in Bellingham with upper 30s on the south side of town and upper 20s on the north side, but you have some even weirder stuff down here. That 40F north of Sedro-Woolley seems accurate as does the 33F to its west and 30F to its east. It's 40F here, but supposedly it's 33F three miles north. There's not really many terrain differences in western Skagit County so I'm not sure what would cause this temperature chaos.

Weird microclimates and big variations in temperature and precipitation type in a small distance are a Whatcom County specialty.

The only thing I can think of is orientation and exposure to wind.

Pretty strange down here as well based on observations posted here with snow in Issaquah at 320 feet and rain in Ravensdale just to the east at 600 feet.

Awesome storm to track.

Certainly a relief to watch unfold from the south side without having to sweat it out.

Just caught up w/ the thread. Awesome pics y’all, need to live vicariously through you.

Oh, and the goofus is garbage. We’d be better off without it muddying the waters.

East wind and 32 degrees. Precip overtaking the dry air. My wife wants to move from North Bend to Issaqauah but I’m not leaving this place…

But we often don't do well with frost.   Issaquah is better in the regard.   😀

That's what I would think as well, but it's almost completely flat farmland once you get out of the foothills here. When it starts raining I may have to go for a drive to see if it's snowing in the colder pockets.

Definitely seems to be colder pockets situation based on all the reporting here.   Huge differences across small distances.   Fascinating stuff.

I really think it is about the east wind more than elevation at this point. Ravensdale is too close to the foothills to get the wind in there. Issquah/Hobart can definitely get that east/southeast wind going. Terrain interacting with wind seems really potent right now. I90 at 18 is crazy right now.image.thumb.png.9124e42e1f7e54ee46800b676626aee3.png

Weather.com has me getting 3 inches in the next 6 hours. Wonder if that will verify. Probably have already gotten another inch almost since it started picking up again.

Hobart on my way home... Dumping snow and people are starting to spin out.

Sorry for the blur, I was trying to be as safe as possible.

Crazy because I live literally 15 minutes down that road and it’s cold rain here. Hobart road goes south into ravensdale from Issaquah.

Of course that's the exit for the hockey rink in Snoqualmie (it's just off Snoqualmie Pkwy). I have a feeling I won't be making it to practice tomorrow, if it doesn't get cancelled.

What time?   Pretty sure I90 out here will be totally fine tomorrow during the day

I need to look at a topo map... the fact that it's raining there is one of the more confusing observations I have seen on here tonight.   Were you buried in snow there on the night of 2/11/19?
