Really, really lovely cumulonimbus action tonight! I just happened to have my drone in the car and got some solid shots of DT Seattle/Lake Washington/Mercer Island/Bellevue looking north from Skyway. Alas, the focal length of the lens doesn't do the vertical height justice and my WB was off rendering it into semi-gross HDR territory, but still... fun looking weather! It was quite windy- I was flying right at 390 ft and the drone was giving me all sorts of warnings about sustained winds/gusts.
A most incredible snow storm. At times the snowfall rates have been as heavy or slightly heavier than January 2017. Temp 27.5, Dewpoint: 27.1 with gusty east wind and very heavy snow continuing. I'm at 11 1/2" now! UNBELIEVABLE!!!! This pic does no justice at all.
NBM is quite an interesting product! Their weighting algorithm is moderately complex and dynamic, though does has some drawbacks as we saw yesterday. For those who don't know, NBM is an attempt by NOAA to create a super probabilistic forecast model that ingests output from all the models above and outputs forecast guidance for local offices that help them to gauge the relative odds of particular weather outcomes. The 'special sauce' is the post-processing, normalization and weighting that they d
To those that think I was drunk or on something last night, I wasn't, I call things how I see them (and some others see them), so... sorry to disappoint but truth is truth.
Also, drier than normal is drier than normal no matter what month it is.
Some of it is a hypothetical scenario, of course, but they really are trying to give free health care to illegal immigrants in California. Given the large number of people coming in, that's eventually going to clog up our medical system and cause very long waiting times.
Regarding DEI however, think of it as affirmative action on steroids. Cliff Mass explains it well (and it's not some right-wing click bait article)
Equality means "all men are created equal" as the Declaration of Independence says. It means treating people by their merits and qualifications or the content of their character, rather than trying to level the playing field, meet quotas, or give special benefits to disadvantaged groups.
Of course in real life there will be privileged groups and unequal outcomes because humans are not perfect and tend to judge others by their appearance rather than their character. But trying to force equal outcomes between groups just causes more trouble. At a minimum, it would require the government to monitor the hiring decisions of every company and punish them if they reject someone due to racism or perceived racism.
The article continues
So this student was failing out of college being a member of a disadvantaged group and being accepted simply to meet a quota, rather than by his qualifications.
Now think of them doing this for doctors, who don't have the skills to succeed and are hired just to meet quotas. The DEI industry already trying to do this.

Well we are going to end up a little above normal for the month, so that makes 13 consecutive months with a positive temp departure according to ACIS.
We will also finish roughly 1" below normal in the precip department as well.
