Really, really lovely cumulonimbus action tonight! I just happened to have my drone in the car and got some solid shots of DT Seattle/Lake Washington/Mercer Island/Bellevue looking north from Skyway. Alas, the focal length of the lens doesn't do the vertical height justice and my WB was off rendering it into semi-gross HDR territory, but still... fun looking weather! It was quite windy- I was flying right at 390 ft and the drone was giving me all sorts of warnings about sustained winds/gusts.
A most incredible snow storm. At times the snowfall rates have been as heavy or slightly heavier than January 2017. Temp 27.5, Dewpoint: 27.1 with gusty east wind and very heavy snow continuing. I'm at 11 1/2" now! UNBELIEVABLE!!!! This pic does no justice at all.
NBM is quite an interesting product! Their weighting algorithm is moderately complex and dynamic, though does has some drawbacks as we saw yesterday. For those who don't know, NBM is an attempt by NOAA to create a super probabilistic forecast model that ingests output from all the models above and outputs forecast guidance for local offices that help them to gauge the relative odds of particular weather outcomes. The 'special sauce' is the post-processing, normalization and weighting that they d
All this post tells me is that you have a LOT of research to do on this topic.
I like what Coleman Hughes says about color blindness, as hawks pointed out, but as I looked around his X profile and watched his interviews about Israel, he has glaring holes in his understanding. He does have any knowledge of the historical motives from both sides, the political situations, the cynical bargaining, the ultimate goal of the far-right in Israel, the tactics used by the IDF, the cover the U.S. provides Israel in the UN, the lack of accountability the IDF has, the treatment of Arab Israelis, the treatment of Gazans, the rights taken away, the bulldozed cemeteries, the mass graves, the torture of innocent people, the outright lies taken as truth, the intentional killing of journalists, the bastardization of the term "Anti-Semitic"... none of it. He does not know what he is talking about. He only thinks he does.
ATC is not the same as corporate airlines. This is a government job just like ours in the US.
They get pensions, have good social programs (like all the French), lots of time off (like all French), and are paid fairly well (100k euros).
They ended up getting what they wanted I guess cause it got called off after the threat.
I cannot pass judgement on any of this unless it is known what led to the strike. Was it justified or was it excessive? Some French strikes are the former and some are the latter. Looks like bad communication from the article.
In a semi-related topic:
As far as the airline industry is concerned, I will say that it is not known for caring about worker or passenger comfort or needs. Their race to the bottom in everything has led to all of this. Air travel coupled with stock buybacks, cost cutting, razor thin margins, and the public demanding dirt cheap tickets is not exactly a good combination. All the inconveniences of flying are self inflicted.
It was better when there was more regulation, less financial pressure, and slightly higher ticket prices.
