Wrf and hrrr both show 2” of snow tonight here. I don’t see it happening but I would welcome it!

 

I'll have to drive up the hills to check it out if we end up getting snow that low. Doubt we see accumulation below 2000ft though.

Interesting weather in the Vancouver (BC) metro today. I had to drive up to Burnaby for work and got caught in serious hail, lightning and intense rainfall. Less than 50 miles away in north Whatcom County.....nothing.

 

Both of these pictures were taken about 2 hours after the hail stopped. Still slushy accumulation remained. Almost built myself a hailman.

Probably depends on how much post frontal precip there is. Already some nice showers starting to hit the coast.

 

If this shortwave was coming through in about a month and slightly cooler is the kind of thing that can drop a quick 2-4" at my place.

I liked 14-15. Sure, it had some snow. But its windstorm action was almost unparalleled this decade. Four powerful wind events at PDX with gusts over 50.

14-15 was easily the worst of those 3 here. 91-92 had a record October snow and a couple inches in February. 02-03 had snow between Christmas and New Years and a heavy snowfall in March.

For downtown Portland, 1957-58 was warmer than 2014-15, and 1933-34 was as well.

 

This is backed up by non-UHI places like Battle Ground and Forest Grove also easily being warmer in 1957-58. I think it's safe to say that was the warmest winter on record for the area.

2014-15 had some arctic air at least in November and the end of December. With a trace of snow.

 

1991-92 and 2002-03 didn't have a single flake here, and in '92's case didn't have a single arctic airmass or low below 20 here.

 

And 1925-26 might actually be the worst cold season of them all, as there was nothing remotely dynamic and it torched as hard as any.
