Same as here. It will be an issue in an overrunning situation. Depending on the situation sometimes it’s rain to snow, sometimes like 12-14-16 there is a period of sleet before the warm tongue is overcome and it becomes snow. But it’s dynamite in onshore flow situations. The way the ridge on Crooked Finger is oriented they do really well with Nw flow even when we are getting shadowed.

Honestly the warm tongue isn’t as big a deal up here, just because you get so many other opportunities.

Here is a locational perspective. You can also see the foothills jut out down here, we are due south of PDX and actually west of places on the east side of the metro.

The western US has been one of the most anomalously cold spots in the world recently.

Here are the temp anomalies over the last 2 months... "my backyard" does not equal the entire Earth.     The fact that excess water vapor in the stratosphere has a warming effect on the planet is not disputed.     That is one theory about the effects of Tonga, but too early to say if there were mitigating factors.   I do know that our little corner of the Earth does not define the entire Earth.

And the holidays are officially over! I believe it was warmer the day I put them up (Thanksgiving Day) I was also quite sick with the remains I had of the RSV and the beginnings of COVID but I knew it was the only window of opportunity I had to get them up. It was a memorable winter season on many levels!

I should have said I liked them so you could tell me they were overrated.

Saw them in 1996 and 2021 and it was pretty stunning how little they diminished in that time with very little digital help. They’re not much from a technical aspect but once you see them live there’s a whole new respect.

It’s pretty ironic that back in the day Rush, arguably the greatest prog rock trio of all time, opened for them.

Looks like warmish and wet won't be happening.  Personally I am looking forward to things greening up.   It's been almost 9 months since it's been green.   Long time to wait in a supposedly green and lush area.  Just my opinion of course.

Green up never happens until mid April at the earliest here. Lawn greens up before then, but field grass and other plants are always pretty late.

I thought about checking that out also.  I think we just about offset that warm period with all of the cold this winter based on where we are at with heating degrees days since July 1 now.

No, but at least the cool cold season has now basically evened things out for the past year.

Even in the lowlands we don’t see leaf out starting in earnest until early April. Not every year can be 2015 or 2016.

Not fully sure what I am looking at here, but I am right on the 30 line.

That would be 30" of precip per year, still about twice as much as the center of it, which has under 15" per year. That would have you at a similar amount of shadowing to Victoria, but the precip gradient is way more extreme over there so there's probably some degree of terrain bleed obscuring localized totals.

I know.   And I wasn't talking about leaf out.  Just the start of greening up.   It's unusually dormant for early March.   Just an observation.

Need to get back to biggest summer Karens mocking the snow Karen.  😀

I feel like it’s not out of line to say the 12z Euro was decent.

I wouldn't mind seeing some more precip because it still looks dryish up here (or at least not wetter than normal), but otherwise it looks pretty nice. The mountains are still inching closer to normal for snowfall and this will probably only keep pace with the deficit.

Yeah rain and mountain snow definitely looks to be more focused down here and points southward. Hopefully April and May have some good make up time up that way.
