I just saw the GFS. It delivers a snowy Arctic Blast to the PNW as everybody has seen. Timing has moved up as well with good blocking as the Arctic Trough digs SW. Tremendous tilt to the trough too. Onto the 00z runs tonight! Think Cold Enough and Heavy Snow! ❄

Any fundamentals that back the forecasted blast? I like seeing the lobe of arctic air this side of Hudson Bay with a train of lows riding its edge.

Same here. I also love seeing it in the 500mb height anomaly maps in the warm season when it's directly overhead or near us. The bigger the better!

00z NAM is on board for arctic air/snow if you extrapolate out from the end of the run to day 10.

I know around here people like to plant those windmill palms, which can take some cold down to like 15*, but that map right there is suggesting single digits to zero.in the lowlands...

That might kill some off and any other exotic plant around here that is sub tropical.
