Omegaraptor
Being wet makes you feel colder... its just a reality. Can't say I notice it. 50ºF just isn't cold to me no matter what - and 50+ temps are a fairly frequent occurrence even in the dead of winter. Of course, there are exceptions like February of 2019, but for the most part it's really mild here. You're from San Diego though, so maybe you feel differently. People in tropical climates feel cold at 70ºF.

Rubus Leucodermis
To be fair, western PNWers aren’t much better. People here seem to think anything under 55°F is cold. When I first moved to the PNW (from the Rockies), I was duly amused that anyone could somehow think the PLUS twenties were bitter cold. (That's just early fall stuff!) Fast forward five years and I felt it was outright wintry when the temperature fell into the 20's. One does get soft living in this climate. 1 Quote It's called clown range for a reason. snow_wizard
I don't buy the "dry cold vs wet cold" for one second. There is no conceivable way to me that 50 can feel colder than 25. Winters here are actually so mild, especially for being at 45.5ºN latitude. Just a single jacket (not even a heavy one) is enough to be adequately dressed for the weather most days. Can't say that about skiing in a dry 25ºF. I think people tend to exaggerate about how mild it is. A normal low temp in the winter is around freezing where I live. As for max temps our average is about the same as Denver and many other cities that are considered cold. 1 Quote Death To Warm Anomalies!
