Big time lightning here on Snoqualmie ridge at the golf tourney. This photo from my golf cart. It screwed up my phone when taking  IMG_7397.thumb.png.dd0a3a9be21d0dd2381e55473c9a63fe.png

How many Mississippi's between the flash and the boom?  I've had once instance of it being almost simultaneous while outside.  Not a good feeling.

Marine push underway to the west…Shelton down to 79 after maxing out at 90. Marine push could trigger some convection as it moves inland. Just hit 89 here a new record for May and still time to hit 90.

89 here now. As long as we’re in the neighborhood we might as well hit 90.

I thought the temp would cap out with clouds but temps been rising faster with cloud cover.

Managed 5 minutes of large rain drops that barely wet the driveway with a cell that formed right overhead.   Lots blue sky to the east now.    Good news is there was no flash flooding with that cell.  👍

Definitely a complete bust in Oregon per the usual.

GFS was decent again.

It looks like there's going to be a spectacular lightning show around sunset if the HRRR is right. And the HRRR has done a pretty good job with this event so far.

I'll be impressed if I get a single drop of rain, I think the activity is going to stay largely south and east of Seattle.

Looks like the MJO has basically ground to halt for at least a couple weeks after cruising through almost all the phases since late April.   Not sure what that means... but phase 7 tends to be warm from May-July.

Nice to see the GFS ensemble mean staying right around climo from the 21st through the end of the run. NOT SURE WHAT IT MEANS, but usually average 850mb temps translate to near average temps, though certain specific climological or geographical factors could come into play!

My locations microclimate is always fascinating to me. We always get in on marine pushes so it’s 73 here while everywhere else in the valley it’s in the mid 80s still.

All is quiet up here still. Temp down to 79 from a high of 89. Time to BBQ! Did have some cool looking skies up in Mt Vernon and driving back home just a bit ago.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Yeah I’m seeing some tweets lol but it honestly does not look promising for areas north of Tacoma.
