Thanks Clinton!  Meantime, Chitown will torch today and likely end up being the 2nd warmest Christmas ever!  If its going to be ridiculously warm on Christmas, might as well remember it and climb up in the record books.  My father is visiting from PHX and was hoping to see some snow during the holidays.  He told me, "should have stayed in Arizona"...they are getting Feet of snow in the mountains!

 

Not often do we see our temps this time of year warmer than out West...

I hit 57° yesterday and the previous day about the same! Sure was pleasant being outdoors lately. On Sunday I sat outside on a picnic table with my friends for lunch & that's the first time I did that this late in the year around here!

Currently at 33F w fog! Probably a lot of slick spots out there. A very stagnate pattern, that's for sure. Making a run at 50F or better today and even better tomorrow. Crazy December!

The GRR NWS for some reason keeps pointing out that this will not be a record warm Christmas. That said it very well could be a top 5 warmest. Here are the rankings for Grand Rapids 1. 65 in 1982 2. 57 in 1893 3. 50 in 1936. 4. 49 in 1932 and 1885. 5 46 in 2015.

At This time it is hazy and 29 here with a lot of frost. GRR reported temp is 35.

It looks like it wants to warm up again (but this time remaining in the 40s, not 50s, Jan 2-3rd)) for middle of next week timeframe. Wow!

Not at all.  We've been holding overnight temps in the 30's and last night only dipped to 40F.  I drove to Christmas Mass this morning and the sunrise looked like something I see out west when I'm in AZ that have some gorgeous orange/red colors.  It is the first Christmas I've experienced that literally feels like Spring.  Hopefully the last!  Imagine if next year on Christmas we see something like what happened in Dec '83 since this year is behaving similar to Dec '82.

The challenge with that is the fact we've now had several mild/snowless Dec's NOT due to a mega-Nino like '82. This is a completely different era from the 70s and 80s for our region. The one caveat ofc, is the bitter cold stretch we had during Christmas week 2 yrs ago. I guess that argues that it's not completely out of the question. Christmas '83 and '92 are the two that stand out as brutally cold around these parts.

DVN has bumped Cedar Rapids up to 60º today.  It's already in the 40s, well ahead of the last few days.

I think that we have a better shot at breaking record high temps today as there aren't as many cirrus and it's 53° already!

Still have patches of snow here, but the look and feel is April. I remember 12-26-14 had this same feel. Traveling to fam Christmas near Frankenmuth shortly, so it will make for nice travel wx. 

 

I think they copy and pasted with today's date since this looks identical to yesterday's map. Sad to see virtually all snow cover wiped out even in N Lwr Mich. Hafta cross the Mighty Mac to see real depth.
