12km NAM shows a low developing this evening over the Olympics.

Makes things much more moist for snowfall tonight over the Central Sound.

namconus_ref_frzn_nwus_9.png

Also shows some green stuff falling out of the sky in that city that’s not seattle on the southern rim of the planet.

It's really just a glorified futurecast radar. It can do well if the feature you are tracking is already showing on radar and you are looking within a few hours but anything past 4+ hours or if the CZ/band/etc. is not already showing, it struggles.

I only post it when it shows something good because of course that's how the world works.

Speaking of cherry picked maps to post.  I saw a post that said Tim got banned.  Is this right and something worth reading the sad snow drought plagued posts to check out?

BTW-  I like positive cherry picked maps.  positivity baby!

I might get to 40 today... EURO was way to cold if that is true.

doubt it...bouncing between 34 and 35 here close to the sound. Should be a snowier night for us south of Seattle.

I guess the 1996 REDUX is on the table. Thank the snow goddess. And lets not forget the region as a whole please... Push the goodies to our brothers and sisters down the road a piece as well.//

Wife went out and scraped the dish. Facetimed and said its snowing moderately. She didn't measure, but it looked like at least 2", maybe more.

Only 8 in Omak as of noon after a low of 5 with the strong outflow. This thing was oriented perfectly for them.

Coldest outflow there since the second push in December 2008 I would guess.

Yet another TOP TIER 21st century airmass. Flatiron is slapping a glitter label on his pee chee for this one as we speak.

Would have been 40 degrees colder in 1968.

That’s because the arctic front is hung up on 520 bridge.

That made me laugh, but seriously today is an example of what weak sauce our arctic fronts are around here. Super shallow airmasses that get hung up for hours on low lying terrain. When I lived in NE Oklahoma it was fun tracking the progress of the fronts. Usually once the arctic front went through Wichita it was about 2-3 hours before it would arrive. Would get some insane temp gradients too. In December 2008 there was one day that was 72/18 and the next day was 18/14. Pretty dynamic stuff, of course overall it is not a great place to live if you can help it.

Looks like the low level arctic air has made it to Tri-Cities. Winds have switched to NE at Hermiston and Pendleton now.

. I’m just south of the space needle and it is dumping snow now. Can’t even see Queen Anne. Been snowing off and on all morning. I am also on the top floor of our building (8th floor).

Light snow now falling downtown. I can see the heavier action from my office building near the Space Needle.

If the arctic air has reached Seattle was has caused the temps to drop? The CZ is long gone.

Northerly flow at 520 bridge and southerly flow at I-90. I think this is the frontal boundary, but the tight temperature gradient has diffused out from yesterday.

Yesterday temperatures were dropping 10 degrees in 40 minutes as the front moved through Whatcom County. While we won't see such a sudden drop, temperatures in Seattle should cool throughout the rest of the day as northerly flow picks up.
