Nah... just hope we have regular rain mixed in.   My bet is on an early spring next year too.

Next summer is gonna be f**king awful out here. Already looks pretty clear-cut, post-niño and descending +QBO with likely -NPMM/+AMM re-emergence. Worst setup since 2010 at least.

My parents wanted to visit from CA in the fall. Told them if they wanted to explore the Idaho panhandle or areas north of Spokane, late Oct or Nov might be a bit late in the season. I hope that doesn't jinx us on the east side. I am also going on a trip during Presidents Day so knowing my luck we'll probably have several inches of snow.

Garfield County/Pomeroy, WA:

2023-2024 Snowfall totals: 14.3 inches

Another night, another being jarred awake by a barrage of lightning strikes at 350AM. 🙃

Some of these are hitting within 500 feet or less. Like right out there. Maybe 1 or 2 houses down.

I told my wife it will be raining by morning.  Still basically clear here with a beautiful sunrise in progress.   I am going to be told I was wrong when she wakes up at 6.    But she doesn't even know how to check the radar so she won't know it's still coming and she will be pleasantly surprised later this morning.

Not much of a roller coaster on the 06Z GFS... just a steady climb.    Would be nice to have a day like today mixed in every week.

Interesting yellow glow in Bellingham as the sun rises to the east with rain approaching from the west.   Almost looks like a bad smoke day.

It was really wild, I woke up to this and yeah, the first thing I registered was that my blinds had that crazy yellow/orange hue to it, and looked out the window to see that sky

I snagged this picture about 20 minutes later of the morning sun hitting the trees with the dark clouds behind it.  I was reading on FB there was an incredible rainbow at sunrise, and folks up in the north county got treated to an incredible sunrise.

Mixed feelings, lol. Always love a thunderstorm, but would rather it not happen at 3AM. Last 3 storms have all been in the middle of the night, including the angry MCS that trashed the neighborhood the other night. Good for lightning visuals but not much else.

Still good to have the rain before ridging cranks up temps (and kills off all clouds/storms) later this week.

My phone says today had better work out. Not really optimistic about rainfall amounts during the day but there should be better dynamics out here tonight with a c-zone signature shown in the models.

It's smoky out at my location and yet we're still in green. Mouth a bit dry from the smoke though. If the high winds can blow the smoke away without starting new fires, the next two days look nice with low 80's - basically the last three or four weeks have been like that. Mondays: breezy, high fire danger, Tue/Wed much cooler and pleasant, Thur: temp warms back up fri-sun: hot. Although the second half of the week is about 90 instead of 95 or 100.

Looks like the smoke is pretty bad in Central Oregon. All the smoke from the fire near Eugene has settled in there...

Isn't it always dry in the summer out there? IDK, maybe you typically get more precip with thunderstorms, but it essentially does not rain here from 4th of July through Labor Day... EVER. Might get a couple drops today.

it is, but we usually get a few downpours here and there if there is a decent monsoon.  nothing since a downpour one evening in June.

Do you pay by volume for water? I was shocked the first time I was in Tri-Cities in the summer and there was green grass everywhere. Nobody waters their lawns in Seattle unless they want a $500 water bill.

nope, only pay for sewer.  seems wasteful.  I'm in an irrigation district technically, most of this area use to be farmland at one point.  Apparently if you use a huge amount over your given allotment, they charge overages for water use.  I guess ive never gotten close, I've never had a bill
