The frost buildup in the shade in the central and western parts of Vancouver was looking pretty impressive this afternoon.

Doesn’t seem to be as much of a thing in the east side of town. I think the afternoon east winds scour out the layer of cold air that sits just a couple feet above the ground and allows the frost to persist in shady pockets elsewhere.

Yeah, I've seen it happen a bit this year, including that crazy August heatwave with a low of 76 one day.

44/29 today. We never really get much frost build up out here. I'd imagine it's because of the higher humidities as a result of being closer to the water. Every day the dew point has gotten to around 40F during the daylight hours.

Have to try and get a picture of part of my neighborhood tomorrow. It has accumulated a substantial layer of frost across the road and in people's yards over the last few days. It looked like it had snowed with tire tracks in the frost but it still not melting out. I think it's in a perfect spot for the angle of the sun this time of year. Never thought I would see frost accumulations. Is accumulating frost weather data that is collected anywhere?

Down to 30 so far here tonight.  Headed down to Santa Maria California tomorrow where the forecast looks like rain for Wednesday.  Coming back here Thursday, and it looks like I might be bringing the rain with me.

The fog has swallowed up Covington now.  Well below freezing so it's going to get icy.  Currently 28.

The current reading of 28 at Boeing Field is flat out impressive.

Low level cold really intensified today I was 6.4 F colder than yesterday. I noticed locations from Gresham eastward were all 6-7 F colder. If we had east winds another 2-3 days temps would fall even further. Fake cold fun.

Wow!

This is quite a roller coaster.  We get hosed down and then the Pacific just shuts off again.  If we didn't have a strong Nino going I would be super intrigued.  As it is we might still pull off something good.

BTW...the GFS metograms are just dreadful with low temps during inversions.  Yikes!

If this pattern lasted for another week everywhere would be way below normal.  Even North Bend is getting colder now as the east wind chills.  We are far enough north to "grow" our own cold.

OLM is just sucking arse again tonight.  Only down to 36 there while many places are much colder.  They have fallen on hard times it seems.
