Careful, don't get too excited. Those snow totals are way overdone, the GFS always does that. 6-10" way more realistic on the high end of things. Maybe a foot in a few spots.

I know, goofus will goof but one can dream lol. I will be happy with a few inches which is far more realistic. Haven’t gotten a foot or more since February 2017 when we got hammered with 14 inches in one day lol.

Sorry, I'm broke so I can't exactly do frame by frame analysis besides what gets posted here. Looked similar in some of the other maps I saw but clearly I'm wrong.

Helluva air mass. What'd you hit last December again? I think you said Bozeman was near all time record?

The airport saw -24F/-45F last December 22nd which is now the coldest day on record. -17F/-40F in my backyard but my Davis is only rated to -40F so it's possible that it was colder.

We saw 700mb temps around -30C with that one last year. The latest GFS is showing -23C but the Euro gets down to -31C. Lots of -30 to -40F readings look to be a good bet at his point.

Here is a good comparison on the GEM.

Top frame is total snow Friday 1 p.m. through Sunday 1 p.m. (entire event) from 12Z run.    Bottom frame is the new 00Z run.   That is consistent.      Just a slight southward shift.

No need to post the GEM anymore. We're all in on the GFS.

I grew up in Maryland, which is like the snow day capital of the US.  They average 15-20" per year, but schools routinely close for even 1" of snow.  I got 4-5 snow days per year like clockwork.  I basically missed half of high school Calculus during the winter of '02-03.

That second low modeled right behind the first one on the GFS is interesting. Wondering if other models will pick up on that. Seems like the two low solution is the only way we can get a regional event.

This is going to be the biggest snow storm to hit the area in a long time. Whoever is in the sweet spot might get a once or twice lifetime event.

Not sure about that.  2019 was much bigger for the Seattle area.
