Gorgeous sunset from Mt Tabor park. Lots of big, downed trees on the north and east side of the park from our ARCTIC WINDS three weeks ago. But honestly the damage wasn’t quite as bad as I feared. I guess the historic shelter took a pretty good hit but that part of the park was cordoned off.

I was intrigued so I looked up the average high and low temperatures across WA for August of 1899. Olga's average low of 45F is pretty impressive as it's about 4 degrees colder than anything we've seen in the last 50 years. The fact it's so much colder than every other location on the west side does make me wonder if there was an error with the thermometer at that time or maybe it was just incredible cold winds blowing off the straight. The Seattle average high for the month was almost 10 d

You can see the low clouds clearing out really fast tonight on the sat loop.  Might be a chilly one.

It’s cleared out quickly here after another disappointingly mild day. Some nice pink skies around sunset and Mount Hood even came out for the drive home. 52/44 spread here so far, but already down to 46. Should easily see a midnight low.

Mostly cloudy with some widely scattered afternoon showers today. PDX somehow made it to 56.

Summer ☀️ grows while Winter ❄️  goes

I would rather have cold rain… and lots of snow in the mountains. Especially given the current snowpack deficit.

Coldest temp this winter: -7 Jan 13th

Snow depth at Mount Bachelor (last updated April 29th) 88"

Snow depth at my home (updated April 29th) late season 1"!

23-24 seasonal snowfall at home (updated April 29th) 92"!!

I have a friend in Worcester, MA and it looks like the forecast totals have dropped significantly in the past day there.

Missing this one by a razor’s edge. :(

Just a *little* more confluence to the NE would’ve put me in the jackpot. The most subtle of aspects can prove very consequential with these coastal storms.

      If you have evidence it is all AI fakes, by all means, share that evidence with Snopes. They will happy to have that information and use it to correct their fact-check. Don’t share it with me, I don’t run a prominent fact-checking site so I am relatively useless when it comes to debunking fake stories. As it is, I am going with Snopes. I first heard of these rumors a couple days ago. Snopes was still verifying them and had this story at “unconfirmed” status. I only posted it today because I noticed they had confirmed the rumors. Apparently multiple trustworthy sources have reported the diapers.

      New 12z EPS about to attenuate WPAC/warm pool forcing by the end of the month. It would surprise me if there isn’t another stout western ridge before May is over. Ironically the most likely time for it is exactly the period I thought would be cool/wet just a few weeks ago (25th - 31st).
