I must admit this is the one and only time I am greatly conflicted about the cold and snow we are seeing tonight….my wife has a huge interview early tomorrow morning and I don’t want her dealing with crap roads to get to it.  Once she it there, let the skies open up and the cold winds blow!!

down to 26 IMBY and snowing again.  Not a lot of accumulation yet, maybe .5”-.75”

You guys have had a lot of weather activity lately…and have done really well with the snow and cold the last couple weeks. Seattle and Tacoma have done pretty well too but north of Everett has done great particularly whatcom county.

The weather station near here has picked up .65 in total precip in the last 24 hours.

I did not see much rain falling in that period... but saw plenty of snow and some sleet falling.    And yet we have less snow on the ground now then we did last night at this time.

To Jim's point - Euro showed BLI at 34 degrees at midnight. It's actually 27. That's a pretty large difference for this close in time and might lend itself to a bit higher confidence that it's very low totals due to surface temps are wrong. Maybe we land somewhere between the two? Slightly closer to Euro?

Also, the BLI-YWL gradient was down to -16.2mb as of an hour ago. I believe on 1/26 it peaked at -18mb so we are getting down there a bit.

Looks pretty localized to Whatcom County though.    From Mt. Vernon southward its a pretty soupy air mass tonight.    I don't think the Fraser outflow is going to have much of an impact down here tomorrow.   We will have to rely on the outflow from the passes.   Its actually colder in parts of Bellingham tonight than it is at Snoqualmie Pass right now.

We should make a collab Spotify playlist for model watching. Who would be down to contribute?

Still a pretty horrible output for the Euro though. It was showing 31F at Abbotsford at 1AM. It's currently 23-24F up there? That's way off. GFS was spot on.

True... both models have their issues.   The GFS also shows it is snowing in Seattle right now.     Not sure what to think.

Back home did, yeah. I missed it.

Apparently it was a wet cement snow that brought down some tree limbs. Will have some cleaning up to do upon my return.

Had a c-zone over us most of the night per the radar loop and it was snowing here but did not really accumulate at all... still dripping out there.

06Z ECMWF... looks like the cold air up north is going to hang on long enough for snow in Bellingham and Vancouver Island.   And for Randy of course!

The other story will be the heavy rainfall on Thursday into Friday... probably 3 inches of rain out here and 4 inches for Chris.    Going to be some street flooding around here as the water has nowhere to go with all the snowbanks.

-6F here and snowing moderately currently with a couple of inches so far. Doesn't take hardly any moisture with 50:1 snow ratios! One of the colder if not coldest moderate snowfalls I've seen thus far.

Snow should continue throughout the morning with another system moving in tonight.

Didn't get to peruse the board much or update last night, spent the evening talking to my wife about a job offer I got, looks like I am headed back to the aerospace industry.  I know I said I was glad to be out of aerospace, but come to find out I really miss it, and this was an opportunity that was too good to pass up.  As an added bonus I am going back to the company I was with before so I get to keep my 17+ years seniority!

On the weather front, we have been sitting at 25 most of the night.  We ended up with about .5" of a snow/graupel/sleet mix.

Congratulations and glad you got to keep your seniority!   That’s Huge in itself :)

Still have some nice snow patches around the yard and 36*

Temp was around 36* when I got up at 5am, but has since dropped to 34.7*. My bones are aching big time this morning....I hope it's a sign my area will score with snow today/tonight, instead of the measly trace to rain poo. (Probably not, it's just a sign that I am old lol)
