I had a feeling we would start to see some nice GFS runs based on the excellent teleconnection forecasts being spit out by the ensemble means.  Pretty hard to have both the EPO and PNA forecasts in the -1.5 to -3.5 range and not have a cold outcome.

Meanwhile...sitting at 26 right now in spite of some stubborn easterly breezes.  If it calms down later a low in the teens should be pretty easy here.  I actually had some icicles form on the house today with the snow melting off the roof.

EURO continues to be MUCH wetter than the GFS.

Currently a respectable 27 at Boeing Field with a dp of 12.  It's pretty easy to see how deep this cold air is when you look at the temp in Bellingham vs Sumas Mountain.  27 vs 8 in this case.  The low level cold hasn't been as disproportionate with this cold wave vs some of the more recent ones.

Pretty hard to avoid torching at some point in March. Even 2012 had a couple really warm days. 
 

2019 started incredibly cold, but the back half of the month completely torched here.

Down to 7 at Spokane. SLE hits 25 by midnight. I believe the record was 23-24.

-17 now at Rapid City, SD. Looks like they were -2/-16. Their late season benchmark is -21 on 3/8/96. They could get close.

SEA ended up with a 35/27 today for a -13 departure.  Good stuff!

I'm perfectly good with anything below 28 or so.  It's all the same as far as keeping things frozen.  It dropped to -11 when I lived in Cle Elum and it certainly had a bite to it.

-36 departure on the day. It's actually not typically as cold there as Sioux Falls where Hawkstwelve is moving. Wonderful area. Spent a few days there in mid-October at the end of the season in Custer State Park and it was an enchanting time.

Alright, since my son has flown the coup my daughter decided to take the reigns of freezing water on cold nights. Mind you, this was ENTIRELY LIQUID just a matter of 120 minutes ago…

25 dp 8 at SLE in late February. Even during these past few years this is still a feat. Wind appears to be slacking off there too.

SD/ND experiences all 4 seasons too. Awesome severe weather.

20 degrees, but 23 at the airport. Looks like this airmass has been a bit disappointing for cold temps, but I'll be in the teens shortly. The winds at EUG have not calmed yet, but are dead calm here. -8F at Diamond Lake.

Stuck at 26 here. No complaints about that.

The 00z Euro was gorgeous. Really wet. The GFS is still not buying it on the 6z. It is improved from the 00z though. 
 

And… we’re not getting more than flurries tomorrow morning. Maybe someone somewhere can get up to 1”.

Freezing things outside as a child is a classic early sign of weather weeniesm. I bet most of us did this at some point.
