Well was 42F and suddenly dropped to 36 and we have light snow and sticking on the grass. I'm more concern about tomorrow morning if we do end up getting down to 15F.

DP down to 19 with calm winds. It's gonna get chilly. I wouldn't be surprised to see 20 before midnight.

Today's high of 38 ties the coldest high for this date set in 2018. (Records through 2011)

The difference? In 2018 it was cloudy almost the entire day, today almost full sunshine!

 

Down to 32 now with a dewpoint of 14.

Clouds rapidly starting to ease up on satellite now, just as modeled. Perfect timing, really. Kept KSEA down to 35°F and my place at 34°F, and will clear out just in time for radiational cooling. Hoping to see teens here in my area!

This is one of those days that the airport will almost certainly beat the two of us out. I still expect mid to upper teens though.

That thursday system could very well over perform. Reminiscent of some of those light snows we had drop of out the NNW in late December that did much better than expected.

Down to just +0.4 this month as of today…but our low temp will certainly be at midnight so looking very likely we will end February below normal.

Michael Snyder mentioned that very thing today in his daily update! Could end up being a snowy one for many!

It went for 2 hours plus!   I was playing golf again in VR world but kept peeking outside during the match.  My brothers laughed as my emoji in game would be looking straight up in the air when I tilted VR to see outside.  I would hear them say….Jim’s looking at the snow again….too funny !!!

Especially north of Seattle could probably see a trace-1”. I get the feeling a lot of people will see something measurable out of it. Euro seems the most bullish with precip and it’s been pretty accurate so far handling precip so far the last couple days.

Nws is going for a low of 19 tomorrow morning. That’s incredible cold for late February. Latest low in the teens I’ve recorded was 2/10/19. Only got down to 22 here in late February 2011.

9 in Sunriver with 21G26 wind from the NE. Brrr. Low of -7 forecast on Pine Marten chair with windchills as low as -30 per NWS.

It's really unfortunate that EUG is viewed as what our area's conditions are when it's really different even a few miles away.

37F with a DP of 21F. I doubt we get colder than 25F.

00z NAM and HRRR both have snow in Seattle tomorrow night, particularly over the NNE side of the city.

We all know February has killed it in the PNW in recent years, and the same holds true here on the Front Range of Colorado.

Today DEN had a high of just 8, the coldest high this late in the season since 1962. Only two years have had colder highs later.

That comes after last February, which had a 1/-14 day on 2/14, the second latest on record for a high that cold.

Feb 2020 didn't have any outstanding cold waves, but still finished -4.6. Almost exact same story for Feb 2019, which finished -4.4.

Then you have Feb 2015, one of the snowiest on record for the region (Boulder saw over 54" that month).

Before that, Feb 2014 delivered a -1/-19, the coldest day in Denver since 1990.

This will end up as the 5th February in a row well below the long term average.

32°F here for the third straight hour. Bird bath out back started refreezing midday as temperatures dropped. Never seen that this late in the season.

A couple housekeeping notes. 

PDX hit 38 at 12:10am this morning. 

00z sounding at SLE came in with -9.7C 850mb temps, slightly colder than February 2011, slightly warmer than February 2018 (That was more onshore flow though IRCC).

Cloud tops warming and receding rapidly from both ends on IR imagery. It'll start cooling fast around 8 or 9pm.

Sublimation took away most of yesterday's snow here. Somehow it did end up being a very cold day though, with a high of 32.2F despite the late February sun. Still not a sub-freezing day, but I wasn't expecting anything near this cold today.
