Weather station is repaired, gusty winds tonight, 20+ mph at times, temp 31 and it is nipply with that wind, such a waste of a cold pattern with zero snow on the ground.

Winds have shifted and the lake effect band is setting up over the south end of the lake. Snowfall rates are very heavy under it.

High of -2 at Rapid City, SD today. Looks like it was -2 on 2/25/11 there... Other than that it's never been this cold this late in the airport era.

KSEA's high of 35°F ties the previous lowest daily maxima record for this date in 1957. The record for tomorrow is 36°F in 1956, so it will be tenuous; hopefully incoming high clouds cap warming a tad. And yes, you read that right, 1956 and 1957 saw similar Arctic events to our current one in consecutive years, pretty much on the same date. That decade was wild, man.

At any rate, altostratus+altocumulus deck has cleared overhead revealing a starry sky. 31°F/17°F spread. It's gonna be a cold one. Maybe some teens? Either way I have an 8am class tomorrow so I'll find out then on my walk there

Have had light flurries since early this afternoon here…snowflakes flying right now but should be ending soon.

Skies are clear, but still getting breezy east winds even over here. Should keep the temperature up a bit tonight.

31 here…we didn’t get super cold lows here in 2011 like some other places. Overnight low here tomorrow morning will likely end up colder than 2011 but overall this event is not on the levels of 2011 or 2018.

I don't think we will see the kind of inversion you are used to given the very low dewpoints and cold air aloft. My only concern with EUG tonight is killing that north wind.

32 here. I think you'll do better than you think. It seems like there is plenty of chilly air above the surface by looking at Andrew's temps today and places like Blue River which is already at 24. Strange that EUG is still reporting winds from the north in the teens. It is dead calm here. If the wind doesn't die down there, the temps will suffer a bit.

Yeah, there was a lot more widespread snow cover in W. Washington back in 2011 too.

Down to 21.6 here with a dp of 12. Looks like the station near the park is reporting 24 dp 8, the fire station a mile away is 22/14. 

Interesting looking at the station by the park, they also monitor road surface temperature. With a high of 31 today the road temp still topped out at 46.

We said the same thing at the same time. There are no analogs for that.

Wind Chill Warning issued for wind chills of -45F here tonight...not sure if I've ever seen that one. 

-5F/-19F on the day here...so far. All sorts of record low highs and now even record lows being set tonight. February comes through again! Currently -19F.

Wow. Brrr. -19 is good enough to try the boiling water to steam trick. I'd be all over that if I was in Bozeman. I've always wanted to try it.

We've done it couple of times since moving here. Around -20F usually does the trick. Might just have to do it again tomorrow morning!

Not hard to do when it happens 100% of the time. Like Andrew posted, the ICON still looks good though as did the 12z GEM and Euro. I predict that they will follow the GFS by 12z Thursday at the latest.
