The late week/weekend trough is pretty cold too, from a temp anomaly perspective.

What part of Vancouver are you in?

Kensington. If you’ve ever driven into the city on Knight St., I’m not far from that place where it crests the ridge and you get a good view of Downtown and the North Shore. Being higher up and further from the water means I get significantly more snow than Downtown or the airport.

Squalicum Mt to the northeast of downtown Bham has properties going up to around 1,500'. Highest I can think of in western Whatcom.

Well that is big news... all the models have been showing it being very warm through the middle of next week.   This is very surprising.

Off topic but we all love snow. A pic from the Jemez mountains to the west of Santa Fe NM this weekend. Absolutely beautiful. Got to experience heavy snow mixed with dust with temps above 40° and 60+ MPH gusts yesterday too, pretty neat!

Beautiful deformation band snow over E. Oregon. Some bleeds west side as cold air moves back in from the north.

I remembered you mentioning living in the high desert as a kid. Couldnt remember if it was NM or UT. This was our first time visiting the area and certainly wont be the last. The diversity of landscapes in such a relatively small space was incredible. Valles Caldera/the whole Jemez Mts drive was a big highlight along with the Tsankawi site. Also had no idea about the history of Los Alamos before driving through. Was definitely not expecting a government checkpoint heading up into the park lol.

Lots of snow in the air at times overnight into today but nothing really of consequence in terms of sticking. Seems like moisture was actually pretty sparse during the overnight hours.

It has stayed very chilly overall though. High of just 39 so far today after a low of 33. Light easterly winds have returned as well. In all honesty I was expecting this post-arctic air period to be a little milder, so this has been a nice surprise. Currently 38 with a mixed shower moving overhead.

Yeah that sounds about right.  I live at the base of it and it looked like the snow line was about 1,100-1,300 feet or so yesterday.  Not seeing any snow on the trees today.  There are some really nice houses up there...we looked at a couple of houses up there when we were house shopping back in 2013, but we were concerned about making it down the mountain in the winter (plus none of the houses we looked at really fit the bill of what we were looking for).  There are usually a crap ton of cars parked at the base of the hill when it snows, some of them look more than capable of handling the conditions...

Snowcover in spots is still hanging on around here as well. Looks like some will probably make it all the way to the end of the month.

Actually looks to freeze Tuesday night-- most side roads up this way are snowcovered so I'd fathom there could some additional issues.
