I like looking at ensembles at this time since the other models don't seem to do well with this pattern of convection. But I agree that further south looks to get more. Just hope the driest areas get the most. I'm still at only 1.47" for June when my average should be near 5". It's kind of nice not having to mow the yard though. Lol

I have 2.24" in june and has rained on 7 days. Miles ahead of mays .89"! Better than most in my area here in SE Iowa.

We picked up another 1.51" of rain here in East Nantmeal Township with 1.45" falling over the last couple of hours with the thunderstorms. There is still some additional storms in the area. We have picked up 3.07" of rain over the last 2 days with now 7.09" of rain falling just during the last 15 days. With the 7.32" so far here in June we are now up to 86% of normal rain (3.24" below normal) for the year.

All historical weather data analytics posted by me is specifically for the climate of Chester County PA.  We continually analyze the actual raw non-adjusted NWS certified Coop observed climate data for Chester County.  There have been no post observation adjustments to any of the detailed analytics. All data is sourced from trained NWS observers and spotters. The life blood of science is to challenge what is thought to be known. I think they’re prepared for the next 3 days.  Everyone’s holding their breath and conserving as best as possible. Population has grown since the arctic crisis we had.
the Texas Energy and Power Newsletter, said they’re not worried about the grid this week thanks to a combination of high levels of solar and wind energy.

104/5 Wednesday.

The official H/L yesterday at Grand Rapids was 71/61. There was 0.38” of rain fall and officially at GR there has been 0.82” for the month. There was no sunshine yesterday. Here in MBY I recorded 0.17” of rain fall to go along with the 0.71” on Sunday. Just goes to show you how the rain fall has been kind of hit and miss. It looks like Muskegon has missed the most on the rain fall department and has only had 0.56” for the month so far.

For today the average H/L at Grand Rapids is 82/61 the record high of 97 was set in 1933 and 1944 and the record low of 45 was set in 1902 and 1905. In more recent years this date has not seen many hot reading the recent years with highs of 90 or better being 2012 with 90, 2005 with 93, 1991 with 91. Last year the H/L was 73/52.

The next several days leading up to the 4th look to be very near average for this time of the year. With highs in the upper 70’s to low 80’s and lows in the upper 50’s to low 60’s and several chances for rain. At the current time there is a lot of smoke in the air and a temperature of 59.

More showers some possibly heavy again possible today into tonight. We have picked up 3.07" of rain in East Nantmeal over the past 3 days. Some spots in Eastern Chester County look to have received 3" to 5" of rain just yesterday. Sun returns at times tomorrow and cooler before more rain looks to arrive over the weekend.
Records for today: 98 (1963) / Low 48 (1970)/ Rain 2.55" (1943)

The smell of smoke is very evident right now as it would seem like my neighbor is having a bon fire.  Daily chances for storms starting Thu-Sat....let's see how this "active" pattern shakes out.

I'm expected to reach 107°F tomorrow, Wichita Falls, TX is expected to reach 111°F tomorrow.

It's insane considering that today is only expected to be up to 97°F

A week or two ago we had some haziness and, briefly, a hint of smokey odor.  This morning it is thick smoke, with a strong odor.

Hey there

I can't remember seeing this much smoke around here from Canadian wildfires before.  Nasty smell outside, not quite like when you light your own fire.

Looks like we’ll top out at 102. We might squeeze 1 more degree out but at this point so what?

They’re holding to their 107 for the big finale tomorrow before we begin to drop.  Hope this is the worst for summer.
I just realized, I haven’t seen 1 hummingbird this summer. They’re usually swarming.  I keep water out for strays, birds, even the lizards show up  🙂

Fingers crossed here for this to actually play out, however I will be waiting to see any decent showers or storms within 25 miles of Omaha fade into nothing again. Anyway, if OttumwaSnomow can break his recent dry spell… Omaha posters can too, right?

Wow. Y'all weren't kidding when you said it's smokey out there. Look at this satellite pic as the sun sets. We had smoke here the past couple days but didn't smell it too bad and thankfully it's starting to clear out now.

The PNW experienced extremely smokey skies in September of 2020. The 2nd picture below is the smoke approaching WA on 9/10/20. I have no complications that make it especially dangerous for me but even I had trouble breathing back then. Just incredibly smokey and smelled straight up like a giant campfire outside. Everything ended up with a layer of ash on it. Nasty stuff. Hope everyone can get some clean air soon!

KLAS ( LAS VEGAS)  failed to reach 100° for the 291st consecutive day. A new record. Make it 292. (through the 27th of June)

Pretty amazing.

They backed off 2 degrees on our high   Expecting 105 by late afternoon.
That’s a welcomed difference and by Saturday we should see a change back to normal life with 98 by Saturday and a 20% chance of rain.

This has been very hard on wildlife. I haven’t seen many birds. Most are down by the lake in the woods. I see large water birds flying toward the lake as well. Can you blame them?

I don't ever recall seeing and smelling this much smoke in the air.  I think the last time we had anything close to comparable was in the summer of 2014 or '15 and I went up to Wiso for the long 4th of July weekend.  I vividly remember how beautiful the sunsets were that year.  This smoke is next level stuff!

Well, now let's see nature fire up some storms late tonight and again on Thu-Fri period....some of the CAM's show a NW/SE line of potential training storms for N IL late tonight...

The battle between the GFS & EURO for the next 5 days...Good luck NE peeps!

I picked up about 0.20" this morning from some thundershowers.  I'll take it.

Regarding the ring-of-fire pattern over the next week, it's usually best to assume the farther south models will be correct.  Each storm complex will tend to reinforce the boundary or even push it farther south.

There's been considerably more smoke in the Ohio Valley this year than last year.

Decent thunderstorms were moving right in my direction, but crapped out as they moved in and missed as usual with only 0.04" here.

Still quite smokey looking around here, and yesterday definitely was the smokiest I've ever seen at the surface. Could smell it all day, but today it wasn't strong enough that I think about it.

It’s quite reminiscent of 2002. While hazy/smoky skies are common, it’s typically elevated above the boundary layer. Pretty rare for the smoke to reach the surface.

FWIW the upcoming pattern puts your region in the “ring of fire” for MCS activity, good chance you see some decent activity sometime between Thursday night and Saturday night. Actually one of the more textbook MCS patterns I’ve seen in recent years.

BTW, Monday’s “enhanced” risk completely busted here. Didn’t even hear thunder. 😂

But yesterdays marginal risk over-performed, as dark as I’ve ever seen at 230pm.

The day after the big event in central KY, I had a random t'storm come through Ashland around sunset couple evenings ago. Of course while only under a generic t'storm risk and no eyes were on this region anymore.

A lot of the MCS events hit our area. It's the isolated stuff that's like throwing darts on a board.

We leave for Wisconsin dells Monday for my daughter’s national dance competition! Will be my first time ever in the state looking forward to it! What’s your prediction for smoke then?! We had to deal with it in may it was the worst I have ever seen. Planning on golfing at trappers run looks like an amazing golf course.

101 at 2 pm.
29% humidity

But interesting part for me is the pressure is 29.82. High pressure often bothers me.  Hurricane Lows give me the “creeps”! 😄

It’s a bit  high and I’ve been fighting a hell of a headache all day   Nothing will kick it.  I’ve had headaches through this weeks weather despite being in a controlled environment.

Anyone else affected by air pressure?

TBH, I haven't paid attention to the smoke forecast.  The flow will be out of the N and NE and that may still blow smoke down from Canada.  The weather looks ideal up there and my family invited me to come up for the weekend.  I'm considering going up on Sun-Wed.  Have fun golfing and good luck to your daughter!
