my God, this forum has devolved into the worst of the worst. It's always emotional and reactionary in here, but it seems that the rational and seasoned members have pulled back to make way for the kids.
I'm going to step back for the day too. It's just too much uninformed nonsense.
I am excited for a lot of you guys, because it seems like this is your first time tracking a PNW winter storm. I remember my first time.
Just had our entire HVAC system (both heating and cooling) replaced and ducts cleaned/replaced/added/etc. Had to select the payment plan option because it was so f**king expensive.
But we’re now saving enough money that we’ll break even within 5yrs or so. New system uses 75% less electricity but cools the house 10X better. And is so much quieter too.
When it was 92°F last week we cooled the entire house from 75°F to 68°F in less than 10 minutes. Technology has come a long way since the 1990s.
I'm already calling it for at least one significant Arctic blast next winter. Everything is going to be lined up perfectly for it. The recent propensity for extreme blockiness is a big deal besides all of the other goodies.
