February 2024 Weather in the PNW

You're joking, right? Sure we don't have good powder (except a handful of days a year), but our terrain is infinitely better than Michigan, and the summers in the PNW are almost perfect, except except the lack of thunderstorms.

He does not allow anyone to complain about anything in the PNW unless its what he wants to complain about.    Particularly not outsiders.  Even if they have been here more than decade... or 2 decades... or spent the majority of their life here.  He has a real hatred of transplants which he will mention almost daily.

But yeah... Snoqualmie Summit can be total garbage and have the worst skiing anywhere in this type of set up.   There is no way to spin skiing in sideways 40-degree rain which is what people were doing up there today and why @the_convergence_zone made the comment.   Because he is a human being with eyes.   On days like this... Snoqualmie Summit is a joke and why it is mocked by skiers from other places. 👍

Our snow is garbage and so are our average summers. Maybe we could take some tips from Michigan as to prime skiing and ideal weather conditions.

Funny story—I was at the Kraken game last night and there were a bunch of Minnesota Wild fans chatting with each other on the monorail about how they are all PNW transplants and how they love the warm winters and cool summers here with no mosquitoes.

We have good skiing terrain around here but I don’t think it’s controversial to say the snow is garbage most of the time…certainly in a Niño winter. I wasn’t even trying to be controversial…it’s a testament to the people of this region that they ski in heavy rain.

Edit— and some of them were probably up there because the models were wrong which was my actual point!!!

I keep forgetting that there is an NHL team in Seattle when they passed on putting a team in Oregon. Aside from the Ducks, sports in Oregon are generally pretty depressing.

Just landed at SEA. Neighbors texted us and said the power is out in Duvall. Looks like it’s been out there for a little over 3 hours.

Winterhawks aren't bad, though not the NHL team you're looking for. Fun team to watch though and I love the name.

I actually watched a Winterhawks game the other day. Nothing better to do I guess. They were playing Seattle, interesting they still have their WHL team even with the Kraken.

On a side note I always thought Mount Daniel would be an awesome location for a ski resort. It would probably rival Whistler for a top ski destination in North America if developed. Much higher elevation than the pass and dryer snow. Glad it ain’t happening but fun to think about.

Visibility would be heinous on storm days since so much of it is above tree line, but considering it's so far east it might actually be out of the western gunk and see a bit more sun. Some incredible terrain up that way, but I'm pretty happy it's in the wilderness.
