snow_wizard 10260
The EPS looks more like the ECMWF operational and the Canadian on the trough for the middle of next week. Looks potentially chilly. In fact it's trending toward a more negative PNA look in general for most of the run. 1 1 Quote Death To Warm Anomalies! snow_wizard 10260
This La Nina is about to get a serious shot of adrenaline from a huge trade wind bust. This one might get it down close to -2 by the time it's done. Another interesting thing about this graph is you can see how the westerly (positive) wind anomalies creeping westward perfectly corresponds with our big weather change that came around October 20th. It will be interesting to see what happens when this burst begins to abate and the westerly anomaly creeps westward again. 1 Quote Death To Warm Anomalies! Tyler Mode 1532
Today the sun will rise at 12:54 in Barrow (Utqiagvik), Alaska and sets just 34 minutes later. It will be the last time the town sees the sun until January 22nd, 2021. Another interesting fact, the sun would not be visible above the horizon, but refraction from the earth's atmosphere bends the light so it is able to be seen. The sun never make it past -0.2 degrees BELOW the horizon. So, when you think it's dark and gloomy here...remember this 7

I've had lightning close enough that it was making popping/crackling noises around electrical outlets outside our house (July 2017) and one time I heard a loud noise coming from our kitchen that I swear was also from lightning. Luckily it was just the time of day nobody was showering or running water then. Omegaraptor 2142
Timberline Lodge base already down to 32” from the 44” it was before this warm rain event. New GFS is honestly looking good, it’s drier than previous runs but most of the precip on it comes from cold fronts. I might get torn apart for this, but dry is better than snowpack-destroying warm rain. 3 1

I don't think they got much rain up at 6,000' the last few days, the decrease in depth is probably due to the snow compacting. And yes, that last opinion is absolutely wrong. Last January had a lot of "warm rain" but was killer in the mountains.

We had 7.29” total rainfall in the fall of 2018 and 8.70” last fall...#1 and #2 driest autumns back to back. So far we’re at 10.54” this fall and will probably end up close to 12”. This fall will likely be a couple degrees warmer in terms of average tempature as well. Mid-November so far has turned things around a bit. But yeah early Fall was bone dry. This was my second October in a row pretty close to zero precip and my Sep-Oct 60 day group was near top 5 dry tier. 1 Quote Weather Data for Klamath Falls, OR ------------------------------------------------------------------- Snowfall (with % of seasonal average) 2010-2011 - 60.70" (168%) 2011-2012 - 49.00" (136%) 2012-2013 - 25.10" (70%) 2013-2014 - 9.05" (25%) 2014-2015 - 2.90" (8%) 2015-2016 - 54.45" (151%) 2016-2017 - 63.00" (175%) 2017-2018 - 18.10" (50%) 2018-2019 - 52.30" (145%) 2019-2020 - 37.00" (103%) 2020-2021 - 07.50" Nov '20 - 00.20" (5%) Dec '20 - 04.40" (44%) Jan '21 - 02.90" 2021 Thunderstorms --/--, Top 5 Daily Snows: 12.40" (01/03/2017), 8.20" (11/23/2010), 7.50" (12/13/2015), 6.60" (02/07/2017), 6.20" (03/10/2019) Honorable Mention: 6.00" (03/20/2012), 6.00" (02/28/2012), 6.00" (01/16/2020), 5.70" (12/14/2016), 5.50" (01/18/2012) Max Depths: 21.00" (01/07/2017), 18.00" (12/24/2015), 13.00" (01/16/2020), 11.00" (11/23/2010), 9.50" (02/27/2019), 9.00" (02/28/2012) T'storm Days: 10 (2020), 14 (2019), 16 (2018), 12 (2017), 13 (2016), 20 (2015), 21 (2014), 16 (2013), 2 (2012), 12 (2011) 1980-2015 Avg = 12 Severe T'storms: 6 (08/05/2020), (08/10/2019), (08/08/2017), (07/24/2017), (01/19/2016), (08/05/2012) "Almost" Severe: 2 (08/10/2017), (05/04/2016) Vicinity Severe T'storms (close enough to hear, with official severe reports) (06/26/2017), (08/05/2016), (07/09/2015), (07/05/2015), (06/09/2015), (08/05/2014), (08/04/2014), (08/22/2013), (08/12/2013), (09/12/2011), (09/04/2011)
TacomaWaWx 3523
Just now, Timmy_Supercell said: Mid-November so far has turned things around a bit. But yeah early Fall was bone dry. This was my second October in a row pretty close to zero precip and my Sep-Oct 60 day group was near top 5 dry tier. Must’ve been nice getting almost an inch of rain the other day. September was a bit above average precip here October slightly below normal. Key difference this fall compared to the last 2 is November being pretty wet finally. 1 Quote Cold season stats Coldest low-28 Coldest high-38 Freezes-7 Monthly rainfall-8.77” Cold season rainfall-25.80” Snowfall-Tr.
