Phil
Analogs derived from ENSO/low pass, MJO, and equatorial rossby wave activity suggest the ongoing -PNA/+NPO pattern (Aleutian High, Alaska low, E-Canada ridge) will continue until early November. Phil
Top-5 analog dates are all neutral/negative ENSO and -QBO (and/or -QBO in descending E-shear phase), as is 2021. We’re running a bit ahead of 1964, and a bit behind 2007, in regards to the latter). Anyway interesting to see these climatological tendencies already manifesting in the seasonal pattern. Aleutian High trends flatter with more AK low/Pacific influence, compared to Niña/+QBO climo. 1 Quote Live Weather Cam: https://www.youtube.com/live/KxlIo8-KVpc?si=xKLCFYWbZieAfyh6 PWS Wunderground https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/KMDBETHE62 PWS CWOP/NOAA: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=F3819&hours=
