Enjoying an IPA on deck right now.    Low 60s and sunny and completely calm feels like 80.

Felt almost hot out there earlier. Probably because I was wearing a suit for an event but not exactly acclimated to warmth right n

All about perspective… in the Faroe Islands today would be the peak of a summer heatwave, if someone was brought here from Singapore they’d be shivering in a winter jacket.

Interestingly... I just experienced several days in the 80s and one of those days with a dewpoint close to 70 and it still felt warm on our deck this afternoon.

Tonight’s deck music. Drove the wife inside to make dinner but I’m enjoying it.

La Villa Strangiato is solid gold. So absurdly complex. And to think they recorded it in one take is absolutely bonkerz.

How do you like Rush (badass), but also like Kiss (not badass)?

I also like snow and heatwaves! 😡

Funny thing is, Rush opened for Kiss during a couple tours back in the 1970’s.

Been a nice lovely spring day today with a high of 60. Currently 56.8 and the trees have definitely made a bit of progress leafing out today.

I like the Grateful Dead and Rage Against the Machine. Don’t think they ever played on the same bill though.

Apparently they do.    I remember the same thing happened in 2008 and 2011 with the trees holding onto their leaves late into the fall.   And of course last year after the very late and stunted start.     The complete opposite happened in 2016.   The trees were strikingly bare by early October that year.   They started changing colors in August... after leafing out in March.

My guess is that they have a built in time period requirement that they need to be fully leafed out each year.   But that is just a guess.   We can check back on this topic in late November.    I am willing to bet there will be lots of trees with leaves at Thanksgiving... way more than usual.

I remain highly, highly skeptical of this, but I’ll admit there could be some truth to it. Last year it seemed like there simply wasn’t enough accumulated cold which is what causes them to create the hormone that sets buds. Who knows…

2016 was telling... it was very warm in August but the trees started turning yellow and dropping leaves en masse.   I think it was related to the unusually early start.

00Z GFS shows a trough just skirting by to the west and then it warms up again.   00Z GEM looks like its 12Z run and does not show a second warm period at all.

The cold air just hits a wall and heads into CA.   Obviously the marine influence will increase Sunday and Monday so the difference between the cold air moving inland or moving southward is not that meaningful in terms of our temps on the west side of the mountains.     Just found it interesting.

Usually only need 4 hours of dry weather for that to be effective... should be fine.

Looks like it might be pretty "nice" for western WA as well.    12Z GEM is coming around to the GFS solution... definitely warm than its previous runs.

Rough. Could definitely be drought building into the north part of Washington. Meanwhile the rich get richer further south.

Rough. Could definitely be drought building into the north part of Washington. Meanwhile the rich get richer further south.

My area of the peninsula will for sure be in a drought by August. I only have 4.78" of rain this year and only 3.5" in Nov-Dec of last year. My pond never filled and is already receding. It is going to be a rough summer for all my native saplings I planted.

Is that article saying 2022-2023 is not a top ten snowfall year?
