I know pivotal weather has the CFS 00z and 12z runs that go out to 32 days. Here's last nights run out to September 17.

 

Big trough there. This is the most 60 plus degree nights we have had here in awhile. Summer has been interesting

12z Euro took a big jump towards the GFS. Surprised nobody mentioned it.

High temperatures today. Both Tillamook and Portland got to 72. Astoria and Kelso got to 70.

Took my daughter and a bunch of her friends to the water park in Moses Lake. They had a blast... and weather was perfect. We decided last weekend that we needed to bring her back with her friends.

PDX finishes with a -4 overall departure today. It was the coolest location in the Metro area. McMinnville and Vancouver were -3, Troutdale was -2 and Hillsboro was 0.

What do you know... 18z GFS shows a heat wave in Mt Shasta while I’m there while Portland’s temps are right around normal.

The solar min has now officially overwhelmed UHI.

Closer look at the Wednesday storm. Very deep low (975mb!) hitting the BC and SE Alaska coast, sending a mini-AR up into coastal Washington and BC. GFS is suggesting an inch in parts of Vancouver, BC and over an inch on the Olympic Peninsula. Pretty strong +KI2 index with this one.

In Montana now, been quite rainy and chilly but I think the temp starts to warm up today. Saw a twitter post about snow up in Glacier NP yesterday.

 

The family is still trying to get the hay cut and bailed, and now worried about getting it done before the snow flies.

Next weekend trended much cooler on the 12Z GFS. Almost looks like a repeat of this weekend with a strong marine layer.

 

I'm sure it will change several more times, but nice to see that on the table at least.

It’s funny, you mentioned the 8/20-9/20 period being one of your least favorite times of year yesterday. It’s actually always been one of my favorites. I love the transition from late summer to early fall.

Already said the GFS has clearly been leading the way lately.     Probably low 90s down there on Tuesday.   The ECMWF went from 100 down to 84 then back up to 95 and appears to be settling in on a compromise of the last 5 or 6 runs.   It has been unusually inconsistent.

Latest GFS looks like 85-ish. But there has been a trend for these close call days ahead of systems to overachieve lately, like last Tuesday or 8/1.

Looks like this Euro run wants to try to get us hot at the end again.

The WRF looks promising, would be nice to see this show up within the 24 hour window. At least the GFS is becoming more consistent on this feature.
