D**n missed this one from last weekend. Another wild storm in a wild year.

I'd love to have experienced that I love winds the stronger the better. I look forward to windstorms out here more than snow events tbh.

I'm even noticing a "smoke shadow" on the southwest side of the Olympics. Wow.

Already starting to smell smoky here.

I went out a couple of hours ago and it is already smelling a little smoky here.  I was really looking forward to opening the windows this weekend and turning off the A/C.

Let's check out this AQI map tomorrow and Sunday...

Thankfully a marine push begins again Monday, but it can be pretty thick and smokey for the region.  Smoke from BC is going to POUR into Western Washington according the models.  Smoke from the Cascades will douse the Willamette Valley.  The whole region will be under soupy smoke.

I'm thinking the smoke will keep forecasted high temps down. Expect underperformance in many areas.

Weak offshore flow is definitely a way of achieving chilly nights regardless of the SSTAs offshore.   Should have thought of that.

Unfortunately... diurnal offshore flow is also why the smoke will really pour in the from the north and east tonight.

What a mess east of the Cascades.  That is all smoke and its thick.  Also see a band of high clouds casting a shadow on this side of the mountains and some low clouds in SW WA.

Got down to 42 this morning. Currently up to 46. So a -5 departure on the low. A throwback from 14 years ago on this date.

Going to be quite the contrast on satellite imagery in the coming days with Hilary dousing Southern California with record rains while we’re dealing with big fires and inundated with thick smoke up in the PNW. Hopefully the tropical storm remnants can help atleast some across the mountains and eastern WA/OR.

Good lord. Guess I won’t bother going over there anytime soon.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

This air mass was fed by NW’erly low level gradients.

My preferences can beat up your preferences’ dad.

Coldest low of August coming this morning...down to 49.

A little over 4 weeks until nights are longer than days. We’re almost done with the evil season.

I guess locals are claiming at least 480 bodies have already been recovered in the Hawaii wildfire. Biden continues to laugh about it and say no comment. He’s making the Katrina response look like the gold standard.
