Timmy Supercell
I suppose December can still be a snowy one if it starts towards middle of the month. In 2012 my first 1+ inch of snowfall was 12/15, ended up with 18" over the following two weeks. In 2015 the first 10 days of Dec had no measurable snow, and ended with 33.1" that month. Fircrest
7 hours ago, Jesse said: Those are Oregon white oaks. They are actually native to western Oregon and Washington. Areas of oak savannah used to extend up the Willamette Valley all the way to the southern Puget sound. There is even a west side sub-species of ponderosa pine that is adapted to this environment (drier, shadowed areas west of the Cascades). I think it is found all the way up to the Fort Lewis area, which has actually managed to preserve some large swaths of native prairie by nature of being a military reservation. A little late to the conversation, but I wanted to mention that two of Tacoma's parks, Oak Tree Park and Wapato Hills Park, have nice groves of the Oregon white or Garry Oak. They are a protected species and grow in what is considered a critical area for zoning purposes.
