Speculation of course, but that could become a big time major snow pattern, and yeah bitter backdoor blast.

Yep, but it's a bit too far east. At least we have a strong block though. It could shift westward the next several frames.

Ensembles show a so-so signal for backdoor cold into Eastern Washington, Columbia Basin. That is an improvement. With the block in that location it would take very little to blast us with reload after reload. C'MON!!!!

Looking at the GFS ensemble, it looks like the GOA is a little to close to the west coast for us in the long range. Which does seem consistent with the EURO weeklies in that time frame.

Pretty big North/South temp. gradient on the 12z GFS. Trough doesn't dig into Oregon and then slides east.

The encouraging thing about recent model trends is at least we're seeing blockier signals emerge in the mid/long range. Doesn't look like Alaska will stay in the freezer too long, much weaker PV.

Pretty big letdown for the 12Z GFS run. 00Z and 06z both showed some nice chilly weather next week, perfect for the lead up to Christmas.

Hoping the Euro looks better.

Sad that 3” is the heaviest snowfall I’ve seen in almost 2 years. I’d lick a pole if we reach 4”. Sleet line already breathing down my neck.

You can see the operational is somewhat of an outlier around the 22nd-23rd, with many members still showing the cold trough for that period.

Ugh, I rather go from a rain event to snow rather then snow to rain.  I see the sleet and rain line pushing in

Pretty mild night. Overcast with a low of just 44 here.

46 currently. Next system should start to move in in the next few hours. At least snow levels look to drop to pass level tonight with that one.
