I'm sure those who live in the Central Gorge east into the Columbia Basin are thrilled this fog is gone.  Hood River went almost exactly one week with 100% overcast, The Dalles I think went 10+ days???

This was quite the inversion.   I just looked at the month to date average anomaly map and Central / Eastern WA have come in pretty cold for the month with some spots in the Puget Sound region a little below normal.  Some places have a very good chance of all three winter months averaging below normal this season.

D**n....2022 has been brutal for celebrity deaths.

The beat rolls on.  It seems like it's been that way since COVID started.  I think COVID will go down as a watershed event for a lot of reasons.

53 and gusty here. Been dry other than a couple of light showers.

I was going to say you know it's a real cold front when we get a good south wind here ahead of it.

The GFS has a secondary cold shot late this week that keeps below normal temps going for a solid week now.

Looking like this might be a very good run in the day 10+ range.

GEFS is starting to look pretty nice.  Having the first week looking cold now makes a pretty cold Feb very possible.

D**n dude. WTF happened? Hope you are in a safe spot.

Hit something on the freeway, looked like some kind of plywood but didn’t get a good look at it. Tire just exploded instantly. Gripped the steering wheel so tight I probably bent it.

Pulled over and swapped it out, but I’m not gonna drive 180 miles on a donut, so staying a hotel in New Brunswick tonight. Figures it happens on a Sunday night when everything is closed.

Well that sucks. I'm sure you probably aren't quite ready for the ole "it could have been worse", but it could have been worse. 🤐

Oh yeah, all things considered I’ll take this outcome over the one where my guts are strewn across the highway.

Yeah, the snow level is so strange currently in the Cascades. Still quite a bit of snow in shaded valleys 500-1500 ft, but otherwise on the forest roads I've been exploring the last week or so the snow doesn't really start until 3-4,000 ft. I went up Mailbox Peak late last week which is at 4,800 ft and snow didn't start until 4,000 ft and there were only a few small snow patches to cross to get all the way up to the summit.

Wind had died down a bit here, but just picked up with gusts in the mid 30s again as the westerly surge came in. Looks like Whidbey Island and places in the Strait are gusting to near 50 mph.
