No doubt.  That place is just insanely perfect for cold.   As I've mentioned before only a small part of the country has a lower January normal than Winthrop.  That is probably even more the case with Nov and Dec.

Temp was 33 at 11 PM tonight, up to 39 now.  This winter sucks.

Currently 46 in Bend, 28 in Sunriver, 21 in Klamath Falls, 18 in Alturas. S/N gradient!

Didn't even break 50 in Corvallis yesterday. Once the sun finally came out it was too late for any sort of heating. Inversion season is definitely not over in the central and southern valley.

12z CMCE - which never bit on the first week of Feb cold like GEFS did - looks similar to 00z. GEFS has no clue apparently which way it wants to go.

The "snowpack" in our region is mainly an ice pack.  Still  over 18 inches here, but the snow is so compact you can stand on it and not sink at all.  Solid as a rock almost.  We have had some sunny skies here so no inversion.

Article about Cascadia earthquake and tsunami scenarios - would be curious to hear people's thoughts on how accurate it is. Paints a pretty grim picture if a 9.0 scenario were to occur.
