Not everyone’s trying to overhype this though. The thought of a severe damaging storm tomorrow is not something I’m looking forward to. I think some of us are just trying to discuss the potential. There is real potential for a major once every 20 years type of storm. Most likely we get hit with a decent shot of wind. Maybe a once in every couple years type or maybe several times a year type. Maybe it ends up just being breezy…I think completely dismissing some of the more potentially significant impacts is a mistake though.

I could be way wrong but I think the reason this situation is being hyped more is because the high end potential with a low undergoing cyclogenesis immediately off our coast and moving due north greatly surpasses anything that we've seen so far this season. Or seen for a fairly good number of years if you're south of Seattle.

The HRRR, RAP, NAM, and HV3 all appear to be locked in with 55 - 80mph. They aren't budging. That's a lot of unwavering mesoscale support. Just like with QPF as an event approaches, low resolution models become mostly irrelevant.
