I know the last couple of Decembers haven't shown much snow.. but that arctic blast we got right before Christmas was pretty cold. Can afternoon temperatures in the single digits happen that late?

Makes sense given the brutal record cold in Siberia. Teeter/Totter. I assume other areas of eastern Europe have been real warm too.

RIP crazy GFS maps, I don't think I've seen many after the one showed -4 temps in Portland in early November and maybe one or two in December

I’m not sure. Longer days in March will limit how cold daytime highs can get. But we’ve had numerous subzero lows in March, many of them within the last decade.

Arctic front. One of those rare setups where the metro area avoided really any southerly flow whatsoever with rapidly lowering heights from the north.

10" of snow at Downtown has to be one of the snowier arctic fronts in the past few decades? Seems like a fantastic event in an otherwise torchy month
