It was actually a mountain wave event.

 

Temperatures spiked to the mid 60's and DP's fell as low as 12 degrees. Extremely unusual for the Olympics!

I was in Victoria last night and it was howling around 10 to 11pm. Looks like Trial Island gusted to nearly 80mph

 

It was far more worthy of a wind warning here than what we got on Friday. I recorded a gust of 42mph last night, the strongest of the season so far. Not bad for an inland location.

A winter that ended above average in PDX I wouldn't call a dud. Just no major storms occurred is all.

My bad. 2014 barely beat it, 7.3" to 6.6". Tied for second snowiest February since 1990.

7.6" at PDX is a dud winter, alright.

Earlier this year we had a SSW event with a subsequent SPV occurring mid February. Led to our modified Arctic Blast in late February. If the SPV occurs during the first week of January then look out for a possible Arctic outbreak during the 2nd week.

Gfs has been pretty consistent showing the snowlevel near the surface here next weekend. Probably a few inches likely above 300-500ft, if that verified

Yup. Portland got four inches, but in subtropical balmy Tigard we didn’t even see the ground fully covered. Besides that event, last winter was warmish-average with below normal snowpack and fairly uneventful except for the Christmas Eve ice storm, which I missed because I was in Central Oregon and saw way more snow.

 

Not a complete dud like 02-03 or 14-15, but not a super eventful winter either.

Monmouth had like a slushy dusting that melted in like an hour so you’re not alone. There’s parts of the Valley that haven’t had anything since March 2017.
