Low solar might mimic volcanic influence though.

High latitude volcanoes might. But tropical ones would inevitably have the inverse effect on the BDC..and 1992 was a solar max year.

Thunder confirmed. Now, will these be worth anything is the ultimate question. I haven't touched my cameras all day yet.

Fairly high hanging fruit.

Was checking out of curiosity, and record the warm MIN for PDX today was actually 66, from 1972. Yesterday’s was also 66, from 1986.

Flatiron, I think you were looking at the record low MAX column. Now fight me! :P

Well , I was. That's what I get for hurriedly checking stuff while at work.

Nothing unreasonable about pointing that out, so I won't fight you.

Stormy early falls are often a good sign for an early winter here when there's neutral or negative ENSO.

Oh well.

Warm and dry September and October... a couple weeks of storms in early November... and then a frozen winter wonderland from Thanksgiving to New Years... and then an early spring.

Is that asking so much??   ;)

Thought those numbers seemed a little wonky. PDX’s record warm mins are around mid-60s or so well into September.

What would be your ideal winter? As in, if you could replicate a past one that actually occurred.

It won't happen, but I'm mildly curious.

A Nov like 1985

Dec like 2013 and a better, more southern-based version of 2008

Jan like 1950 combined with 1969

Feb like the one we just had with an early Feb 2014 feel

SEA with their sixth 85+ day of August. Will finish with a warmer August than 2015, 2016, or 2018.

Today may hit 85 here in Tacoma, which would be the first 85+ of the month, and only the third of the summer. Currently 84.

How’d you pull that off?

A new roof was put on my house and I cleaned it off with a leaf blower. The amount of granules from the roof was insane. I cleaned the gutters and put it in the garbage bin.

The garbage bin ended up weighing at least 350 pounds and I struggled to move it. Anyway, that garbage bin crushed both of my hands.

I couldn’t help myself and clicked on the pic you posted the other day. Pretty gnarly. I’m glad you were able to bounce back from that.

Dec-Jan 1968-69 was absolutely incredible. Excellent precipitation totals, excellent snowfall. Doesn't get much better than those two months. A shame that March 1969 was so dry, but otherwise an almost perfect cold season.

Now if only we could get a repeat... which is extremely difficult in the current state of our climate.
