06z GFS shows a hurricane landfalling into SoCal with remnants making it up to Eugene lmfao

Because the GFS is uncoupled, those EPAC hurricanes are often modeled way too strong over the cooler EPAC waters. Which then effects the 4CH/pattern over North America.

ECMWF is much better.

The lady in the lounge next to us left her flip flops in the sun and they literally melted. Didn’t think that was possible. 😂

Pretty sure its a local source.

This is facing the NW…Had no hint of it at home. Smoke doesn’t look as bad in the picture but definitely smoky smelling.

Its 94 there.   And humidity does not melt things.    Apparently my shoes will melt tomorrow.

The hospital view. My dad is still in the ICU but is finally looking way better so fingers crossed that he continues to improve!

Like react here!

And smoke is not apparent on that pic.   I checked the Space Needle cam loop and it looks like it has passed through there heading south.

I think it’s the very strong sun and scorching sand. The Sun is much more intense here than Seattle or DC.

Heat index has been ~ 120°F all afternoon so it certainly feels hot, but now sea breeze is blowing which helps a lot.

Shoes don't feel heat index.   Temp is in mid 90s.

I like how you are calling upper 80s to 90 "warm" -- most around here would call it hot. ;)

Yeah I don't like anything above 75° already but I say anything above 85° is hot especially by Western Washington standards.

Lots of Perseids to be seen last night. Would estimate peak rates of 100–180/hour from a dark-sky site near Harrison Lake.

Now back home. Currently 82.8˚F.

We watched the meteor shower from our front lawn last night.  It wasn’t peak time yet as it was only around 11pm but we saw a decent amount.  My wife and kids all fell asleep on the grass.

One of the peaks I observed was a little before midnight. They kept coming and coming at a rate of several per minute. There was another good burst of activity around 1:00 AM.

Went to bed at dusk (9:00 PM), got up to see the show, went back to sleep a little after 1:30 AM. Got up at 4:00 AM to pee and the show was basically over by then.

Was camped in the back of my truck so all I did was drop the gate and adjust my bed so my head was out on it, then climbed back under the covers.

It's called clown range for a reason.

We’ve had cheap flip flops melt/ shrink on a hot day here when left on the concrete in front of our house.   My wife had a pair that ended up all curled up and about the right size for an 8 year old child.
