This is the beginning of the great Polar migration.  the North Pole will relocate to around Nelson, BC.  we will be in the dome.  the arctic as we know it will melt. the PNW will become uninhabitable within 10-15 years.  the new ice age starts next week.  I can't believe Tonga actually pulled it off

Bet Tim is browsing Charleston SC real estate as we speak.

Yes, snow could be better. But the duration and severity of cold is getting truly shocking

Honestly I would not mind if that low gets suppressed all the way into California and we end up with a huge blast with strong east winds, even if we don't get snow. It's been a while!

My mom in KC, Mo. is used to it.  My son is about an hour north of Denver though.  He lived in Anchorage for two years, but this will be new.  He grew in in Huntington Beach.

10 days out but yes. By the way GEFS has been all in on extending the pattern for several days. Even though it’s performing terribly in the shorter term.

Yeah, GOA ridge cooperates and we continue onwards with a fairly wide open pipeline to the arctic even as the TPV lobe shuffles east.

Very similar to how historic months like January 1930 transpired, where Portland had 19 days in a row with highs under freezing with reinforcing shot after reinforcing shot.

EPS is just a fuzz better than the 18z.  The cold air appears to go out just a bit more west.

Agreed. And to me, it looks like the GOA block will continue to pivot beyond day 10 giving us more reinforcing shots. Lock this in.

Well...it depends how cold and for how long.  Deep cold for a long time would be very memorable and cause plenty of problems.

If this verifies, I would see two days of negative low temperatures, then add the windchill factor and temperatures would probably be -20 degrees 😳🌬🥶

factoring in wind chill, I look to hit negative eleventy hundred degrees.
