Checking in from Yelm. I have about 4 inches of snow this morning. It started with the pellety type snow around 8:30pm, and it's still very lightly snowing now at 5am. No call from the school district yet though.... 😕

Wow 4 inches.... Very nice

I feel you. I'm awake now waiting for the call. I'm tempted to just call and lie, saying my child is sick and not go but I'll probably end up taking him to school anyway lol.

6 degrees in Bellingham with N23G46 is North Dakota weather!   23 here and cloudy but skies should be clearing this morning.

Hopefully this kills off some of the bugs.    A nice reset by nature.

BLI recorded single digits the past two winters as well.

9.0˚F IMBY.

Looks like another northward shift ion the 06Z runs for the system tomorrow.     Still might end up getting parts of the Seattle area and Olympia is definitely in the game.   And the 06Z control run showed the Wednesday snowstorm... it might be happening.

Looks like it's about done.  The radar looks good over me right now, but it's just a light flurry.  Ended up with about quarter inch.  Pretty disappointing when you consider this could be the best January Arctic blast in decades.

Really sorry to hear that it didn't work out for you Jim. At least that quarter of an inch should still be around? No way it can melt! Unless it sublimated because it's so D**n dry!!

Pretty impressive wind chill up here, -19!

If you had forecast this fall that it was going to get into the Fahrenheit single digits this winter despite it being a Niño, I would have openly wondered if @snow_wizard had hacked your account.

8.8˚F and still falling.

A 992mb low there with solid cold air in place and good outflow, it just looks like a classic setup for us. I think we're set for at least a few solid inches, especially out west in WA county. I think PDX metro in general should be ok. Probably will see some sleet in parts of the metro for at least part of this but I think enough will still be snow to get a solid event.

06z EURO shows the highest snow amounts in Washington county. With a warm tongue up into Clackamas County. You could be right, Hillsboro especially out to Cornelius and Forest Grove could be the big winners. I think Central/East PDX Metro will be fine though. I think it’s overdoing the warm tongue in those areas.

Probably a lot more reasonable than those double-digit GRAF amounts, which are high outliers. Euro is going for 3" so probably still on the high end.

12z NAM is very aggressive with the warm tongue and sleet into PDX. It’s going to be wrong because on the leading edge of moisture it’s showing cold rain. 😂

HRRR looks a bit better, 4-5" of snow for Washington county.

That looks like a more classic warm nose. Hoping it works out like that even if unlikely.

Warm nose right over the top of my house.  Right on schedule.  I would expect nothing less.  Earlier it looked like I might escape it.  Nope.

Just saw it. The HRRR is usually over aggressive with the warm tongue. Still showing sleet into PDX Metro and also just cold rain into Clackamas County. I’m confident we’ll see more snow than what these mesoscale models are showing.

Lots of windchills of -40F to -60F out here this morning.

Current actual temp here is -25F which is my low for the day. Midnight "high" was -12F which will likely be my high for the day. Cold air has pushed in more aggressively than modeled.

4.5 degrees this morning with a DP of -13.5.  Had the power flicker a few times, but so far the lights have stayed on.  Still quite windy out.

Looks like 56mph is still  the peak gust at KBLI, and they just hit 4 degrees as well
