While in recent decades even a subfreezing high is hard to come by, during the late 19th century there were incredibly severe cold snaps almost every 3-5 years during that month, to the severity of Dec 1989 (though not usually the length) Yeah, December has gone completely AWOL here, just as January has in the PNW. Possibly even more-so? It’s been deteriorating for awhile, but that trend has accelerated over the last decade. I remember several significant December events from my childhood, but there’s been nothing of note since 2009. During the Revolutionary War/late 18th century period, December was possibly our best winter month. Benjamin Franklin and others noted multiple blizzards and extreme cold waves in December during their lifetimes. Crazy how climatology changes like that. 3 Quote Live Weather Cam: https://www.youtube.com/live/KxlIo8-KVpc?si=xKLCFYWbZieAfyh6 PWS Wunderground https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/KMDBETHE62 PWS CWOP/NOAA: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=F3819&hours=
